Does JVR replace Gawn? Grundy takes Gawn's role, TMac takes Grundy's, and JVR takes TMac's?

Does TMac deserve to hold his spot though?

If May's fit, might be Petty who makes way if his knee is sore. Otherwise Tomlinson goes I suppose.

Someone else can take the sub vest off Melksham, really disappointed in his effort (or lack thereof).

Harmes also surely in danger, but not sure we're going to make that many changes.

Harmes played majority in the midfield and only gathered 10 disposals. No he didn't tag anyone before some jump down my throat again. Enough is enough, his efforts tonight were simply deplorable.

McDonald is cooked. No simple way to look at it. We all know his foot nearly done so while we have a fit Schache and JVF then may as well see what they got to offer.

I'm a broken record with Melksham so I'm not adding anymore to this.

If Petty is sore then just give him 2 weeks. He was woeful tonight and Tomlinson was the better defender. Reward good form at least when May comes back next week.

Hopefully Steven May comes back. We desperately need him.

As for Max Gawn....we gotta wait and see.

However, I think Josh Schache is a chance to play next week, but only if he plays well in the VFL for the Casey Demons tomorrow.

Schache plays no doubt

#FreeRoo in for TMac

May in for sure if fit

Guys like Harmes...if there are better options the coaches will bring them in. Not sure if they'll want to make a heap of changes though. Don't see someone like Dunstan or Laurie doing much more tbh

Harmes is too clumsy for my liking and Melksham plays like he’s not invested. Obviously Gawn will go out for someone. I’d back the rest of them in.

Sydney are a real bogey side and in form so I’m concerned about how this one plays out.

In: May, Dunstan, Schache

I have had enough of Harmes already. Not convinced he is AFL level despite playing well as a tagger before signing a ridiculous five year deal.

Outs

🚑Gawn ( I hope and pray it’s not ACL)

🤡 Harmes must be dropped to Casey

☹️ Melksham to Casey (new sub needed)

? Tmcd was ineffective and pushed aside too easily by Payne

? Petty could benefit from time at Casey (Tomlinson was better again tonight)

ins

️ May must be back to battle Franklin

? JVR /Schache- depends on how perform at Casey (replace Tmcd)

? Salem - fitness test 🙏🏽

👍🏻 Jordon to come back in (why was he out?)

sub Joel Smith if he has a good game

I hope they don't panic too much, but i'm a bit concerned by McDonalds output, he'd want to find some significant form very soon

I'd guess May will come back in, and potentially someone like Josh Schache. depending on Maxy's situation i reckon we might grab a ruck in the mid season draft

What’s the story with May? Was he a genuine chance to play tonight ? Or was it all foxing? Was it a conservative approach? Or did he breakdown at training? He is very important, so I hope he comes back in next week.

The midfield was woefully out of touch.

We did not adjust to the humid conditions at all. The amount of fumbles and dropped marks was appalling.

Gotta get some soldiers back soon. Too many gaps. Melksham can go as sub. Harmes on such thin ice. Viney needs to spend time on his disposal. Time to try a new forward mix. TMac looks cooked

Harmes on very thin ice. Laurie, Jordan or Howes: please breathe heavily down his neck

I love Harmesy BUT Harmes cracked through the ice and is on the bottom. He was terrible all night. FUMBLES. SLOW DISPOSAL. POOR TACKLING. Cannot stay in. Cannot !

Must be replaced by Jordon. Must.

Harmes needs to be dropped, and he was on thin ice last year when he was the sub for the late season Collingwood and Carlton games last year.

He had 19 fantasy points which is only 15 points more than Gawn who played about 5 minutes

For context,  Oliver, who had an ordinary game by his standards had 147 points.

Almost every touch Harmes had was ineffective or rushed, and only had 2 tackles, 2 score involvements and 4 frees against.

A stinker of a game by any metric.

My mail Wednesday was that he wasn't going to play. Don't know why they bothered in flying him up

He wanted the frequent flyer points.

i standby for what i said last week. Petty is in ordinary form but I guess they will lit him work through it.

Schache will come in for Gawn, exactly the role he was traded In for. Grundy has missed a lot of footy but this spell as number one will get him going again.

Wish kozzy only got a week. He is such a point of difference for us.

I was concerned by TMAcs output last week but some on here continually defended his game by saying how important he is to our structure

Looked like a busted bus last night absolutely no affect!

Shackle for Max

Petty forward for McD

May in

New sub depending on who does what at Casey?

Hard to judge forwards output considering, the limited opportunity compounded by poor delivery.

Hard to judge the backs considering the avalanche of entry's and lack of pressure on their delivy.

The midfield got smashed, embarrassingly so.  Langdon is going through a poor patch (not advocating dropping him) but that's anothet unusual a dynamic that the team hasn't adjusted to.

Sydney's smalls are more dangerous than their talks, which could expose us.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
