Gee, so many reasons that I hate Cats, another example above. Port offering overs. Apart from some good games this year as a defender, Ratugolea been very mediocre IMO, given taken with pick 43 in 2016 think pick 24 is good return for someone wanting out.

Isn't Mackie their list manager. Another complete arrogant [censored].

Port's approach to their defence is interesting.  Ratugolea showed promising signs in defence as an individual this year... but Geelong's defence looked much better once he was no longer in the team.  To me they need a lockdown defender to allow Allir to go third man up.  Instead they're chasing two defenders that haven't been able to play the lock down role in Ratugolea and BZT. Odd

My sources tell me that we have struck a deal with Carlton. We are getting McKay and Curnow in exchange for pick 46 and Bailey Laurie.

Is that better?

I heard they were throwing in Cripps to sweeten the deal when we went to walk out.

I'd be happy to go to the draft with our current picks of 6 and 11 and fill our needs to replenish the list. I think we need to get a gun defender like Curtin, O'Sullivan or Murphy with Pick 6 seeing as we need a replacement for May in the next couple of years. Pick 11 is more interesting and I would target a Mid or Fwd/Mid such as Caddy, Sanders, Wilson though I believe North Melbourne are trying to get priority access to Sanders through his indigenous background and picked up as a NGA. We'll also get Nathan Browns son.

Having lost Harmes, Jordon, Dunstan we are now light on for inside mid's se we may have to look for a delisted free agent to cover those losses. Pick 41 should get it done for McAdam as he is no better than Harmes who went for a future 3rd rounder but will probably ask for our Future 2nd from the Grundy Trade. Pick 46 or our Future 3rd from Harmes probably gets the job done to land Fullerton.

I like the idea of trying to land Haynes and pick 7 from GWS but they have recently said they'll keep him now so watch this space. He was a gun defender a couple of years ago and could be a missing piece to winning another premiership.

Getting more games into Turner, Woewodin, Laurie, Howes and Sestan is a must for next season as we've lost a lot of fringe players and are light for depth.

Frawley joined the Hawks after they won a flag. Danger joined the Cats when they still had the core of their 2011 Premiership team. Cameron joined the Cats after they lost the 2020 G/F.

His point stands. They acquired big names whilst in their premiership window.

grundy is a pretty big name on a huge salary

it didn't work; move on

there's no one that's a 'surprise' on the move this year other than schultz who has quite clearly been tapped up by the filth in addition to wanting to return to melbourne for personal reasons - same as the crom tapping up petty to try and pry him loose

we've moved pawns around and would appear to be in a decent position from a salary cap point of view to keep adding to our list in the years to come

Pies Vice Captain goes for 33.

AA and dual B & F Grundy for 46 and F2.

Cats want better than 24 for a guy they don't select in their side.

Gotta love them, coming from Dodoro college.

I wouldn't be surprised if we do a swap with Geelong to move 11 up to 8 as well.

If North do a swap with the Eagles it is actually a good thing for us, as it means one of Sanders, Watson or Duursma is likely to slide to our pick as the Eagles will take Curtin.

If this happened I would be very happy with a draft of Sanders, O'Sullivan and Brown.

As does my point

Danger moves to Cats 5  years after they win a flag

Lever moves to Dees from a team who finished H and A top and lose the GF to move to a team who hadn’t played finals in 12 years but look on the up

Cameron moves to a team who are in the window because they made GF the previous year you say

May moves to Melbourne after they made the PF the previous year but doesn’t go to the side who finished R/up

I'm sure glad we've won a final within the last 7,000 days.....

Well we’re on our way, currently standing around the 750 day count. Will be over 1000 days when September 2024 rolls around.

Grundy, even though it failed. Was to be kind of a replacement for Dogga

11 and f1? High price and not sure if worth. But perhaps something comes back the other way. All depends if we see value on going from 11 to 8 for either a player or shot at Reid.

Considering the latest update to the Oliver thread, way too soon I’m afraid.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
