Considering the lack of training reports today due to the closed session, for those interested, I'm working at the AO at the moment and Big Benny Brown is currently participating in the 'Glam Slam'.

It's not much to go on, but he looks to be moving pretty well. Good forehand on the big man.

Only 10 ,  or 4 more flags !

Both hopefully or near will be enough.

Taj Woewodin and Deakyn Smith have put on significant muscle over the break.

That’s was great running, and great goal but that handball was lightening quick and into the tight spot

Anyone know if it’s the same hand he had surgery on?

It is indeed the same hand. Not surprised it’s taped up; I saw it without tape, the scar is long and deep. And that was a couple of months ago.

I’ve watched this a few times now and I’m still speechless at the acceleration in each subsequent step.

What I really like is the way he squares himself to the goal face up a split second before kicking.

That's a pure footy skill.

Smith is my smokey for this season.  He looked a fair way off last I saw him, but I just love the way he moves.  He has that smooth running style where he glides across the ground.  I could see him carrying the ball out of HB.

I read somewhere that players are on a 4 day break from their clubs as result of their collective bargaining. I might be wrong.

I read that Essendon players were on a 5 day break after Wednesday. Read that in the article about their best and fairest Peter Wright hurting his calf. Not sure what was more alarming that he hurt his calf or that he is their best and fairest.

Anyway looks  like we trained hard Friday and then had another running session today. Whilst Essendon players are on a 5 day break. Sounds about right I suppose for both clubs.

Peter Wright had a great season in 2022, finishing 8th in the Coleman. I’d say he was easily their best and most productive player.

He had a 2nd round of surgery on the hand recently I'm pretty sure

Deakyn Smith and Jefferson look very classy too, beautiful movers.

Smooth AS !!!!! We have a bunch of recruits who all may have the potential to bridge the gap Obviously some will and some others may take longer or even miss the boat in'23.

But who they are is up for grabs and it is exciting to possibly think of the development potential. Bring it on!

I remember watching Shai Bolton explode onto the scene a few years ago. It’s a similar progression between these two - starting small forward, good game then quiet game. Bolton has really only come on in the last year or two since he has moved into the midfield a bit more.

Kozzy still has upside and I think will ultimately go beyond Bolton IMV.  Once he is able to get even more consistent, I can see him sneaking into top 20-30 players in the league

You do have to watch it multiple times. You'd swear everyone else is just stationary as Koz just blasts through traffic.

I can't wait to watch him work through the midfield this year. Imagine having to try and tag the bugger.

Maybe our defence is just slow and lethargic (MFCSS) 😱😱😱🧐🙄

It's going to be a long year of that's the case.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
