I’m really interested to see how the Lions go with Dunkley and Gunston (I wished we had got him). Prior to the Lions beating us in the semi final we destroyed them in

Rd .15 117 v 53

Rd. 23 115 v 57

How much of our semi final loss was them and how much was us. They have a tough draw so will be interesting to see the final make up of the 8 next season.

It was all us in my view Busted players and poor game plan we were cooked by then.

What’s changed up fwd, that’s a large part of what went wrong last season. Isn’t Brown going to have a delayed start after surgery?

Out. : Brown Spargo

In : JVR Chandler

Out- Spargo to only be used in  break glass in emergency scenario

I suspect that you are right, but Hibberd without any doubt will be doing his darn deer, as he always does.

We have the best 22 in the league. Get them fit, get them mentally fresh and we are in this up to our necks

Clearly we multiple options for a variety of positions next year. A great place to be. Injuries will often dictate options but I'm hoping we return to form being the deciding factor for selection each week.

It's why Bowie kept his spot after Hunt recovered and Jones didn't play in the finals despite many of us wanting him to in 21. It will ensure pressure for spots which ultimately makes us a better team.

Big fan of Disco and think he has loads of potential but he offers something quite different to Hibberd

Not sure he is competing with the Hibbard role though - for example not sure he would be my choice to take Charlie Cameron, Ginnivan, Weightman - however Hibberd would be until he stops doing a great job

Related/Unrelated - What are the chances of Melk getting to 100 Games (Sub or otherwise) to get Father-Son eligibility? ticks it off for Essendon but currently on 94 appearances for Melbourne

My best 22 for Round 1 would be:

B:     Bowey                   May                    Lever

HB:  Salem                    Petty                  Brayshaw

C:    Hunter                   Viney                   Langdon

HF:  Neal-Bullen           McDonald          Harmes

F:    Pickett                    van Rooyen        Fristch

R:    Grundy                   Oliver                   Petracca

Int:   Gawn                    Rivers                  Sparrow          Spargo

Tactical Sub: Jordon

I'd expect the chances are pretty low - 6 games is more than a quarter of the season.  Surely in terms of forwards in 2023 we have BBB, TMac, JVR, Fritta all pickable ahead of him (granted the first 3 are bigger fwds than Melksham's role).  We have Kozzy too - Melksham isn't replacing him.  Nor does he cover ANB's Kms.  Would he be ahead of Chandler next year? Even if so, there's got to be multiple injuries between him and senior selection. I'll always have a soft spot for him - his 2018 was great, but I'd worry for the state of our 2023 season if he's getting 6 games.

I think Turner could do a job on someone like Weightman, Jamie Elliott or other medium marking types. We’d probably have to give the match up on a pure speedy type like Cameron to Bowey or Rivers.

Like Jetta before him, Hibbo’s been a great luxury given he can match up on the most dangerous forward be they smalls all the way up to 190cm ish marking types. If Hibbo’s injured or slowed down we might not have that luxury.

Things are looking good when you have a 6x AA ruckman on the bench

Brown is surely cooked

Hibberd is an injury away from retirement

Bowey has to play

JVR better be playing after the hype fest around here

Hunter and Jordan will need to train the house down to get in above the other.

Only injuries stop us winning this

If Voss can coach and Carlton stay fit surely they are pushing

Think he'll struggle to get there, but may get nursed to it with sub appearances.

Maybe some greater squad rotation in 2023 will assist too

Current All Australian ruckman demoted to the bench. No way.  Gawn will start in my view.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
