The AFL seem desperate to promote Carlton:

  • The easiest 'double up' games possible:  Collingwood, Melbourne, St Kilda, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast.

We're an easy double-up game?  Plus Collingwood?

HOW THE LADDER COULD LOOK AFTER ROUND 6

1. Carlton 5-1
2. Melbourne 5-1
3. Geelong 5-1
4. Fremantle 4-2
5. Brisbane 4-2
6. Richmond 3-3
7. Collingwood 3-3
8. Sydney 3-3
----------------------
9. Western Bulldogs 3-3
10. Port Adelaide 3-3
11. Hawthorn 3-3
12. Gold Coast 3-3
13. GWS 2-4
14. St Kilda 2-4
15. Essendon 2-4
16. Adelaide 2-4
17. North Melbourne 1-5
18. West Coast 1-5

But why not alternate the Eagles and Dockers?

With the Eagles putrid next season, isn't it better to play the weaker team over there?

Process of elimination for those wanting to book to go to Alice Springs for the Dees vs Giants game.

Gold Coast are playing Adelaide on Saturday June 3rd in Round 12.

Currently we are only listed as playing the Giants in Round 16 with no set date. Round 16 should be on the weekend on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd of July.

Those aren't but the other 4 are almost 'gimmes'!

So overall it is about the easiest double ups of all.

People expected West Coast to be easy beats like last year are in for a shock.

They could barely field a team for the first half of the year and then tanked the rest

Has anyone received an email from the club advising of the code needed to buy tickets for the Gather Round game against Essendon?

Tickets are supposedly going on sale 12:30 today.

Perhaps - but i'm glad we are playing the hawks and Roos twice, which the blues aren't.

The blues double up games are Collingwood, Melbourne, St Kilda, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast.

The pies and the dees are very tough double ups.

And of the others i reckon only west Coast is in the chalk up a win category.

The Giants are next weakest, but still have a reasonable list and might be tougher to beat than their finish to last season suggests.

St Kilda are not likely to be easy beats, and i reckon the Suns are on the rise (pardon the pun)

We play Perth better than the MCG!

My query was more about trying to understand why rather than being too worried about it.

Surely warrants a "please explain" from the AFL?

Easy beats, maybe not, but they are going to be a bottom 8 team. Their list profile is awful with most of their best players past 30.

Hurn 35, Shuey 32, Gaff 30, Darling 30, Naitanui 32, McGovern 30, Cripps 30 and an injury prone Yeo at 29.

Kelly is more or less a sole hand in the midfield with Shuey playing as a 33yr old and having injury interrupted seasons 3 years running. They may remain competative with McGovern and Barass holding their backline together with a geriatric Hurn while also having the benefit of a home ground advantage.

West Coast went all in for Kelly to have a shot at another flag which they are now paying the price for. They have only just started to heavily recruit youth in the past 2 seasons after years of having a poor draft hand, while their 2018, '19 and '20 drafts have given them next to no returns. Make no mistake, they are at the start if their rebuild and recruiting the likes of Hunt and Petrevski-Seaton isn't going to mitigate that.

I cannot believe that in the period 1990-2023 which is 34 years we missed playing there only 9 times whilst Collingwood played there 3 times in that period so they missed 31 times.

I would not only ask a question I would tell the AFL they have to fix the imbalance.

Got my ticket for Gather Round. All pretty easy really.

My view on Kardinia Park is this... the more our current list plays there the better equiped they will be to win there!

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
