Unless Kozzie says to the club that he’ll refuse to return under any circumstances, he’ll be at the MFC next year. No chance in the universe that the MFC will entertain a trade here, unless Port offer us something stupid like Butters or Rozee in return.

However it’s a problem to deal with next year.

I’m hearing multiple reports that Melbourne is chasing Zac Butters. Doing everything they can to get him next year. Melbourne boy who wants to come home. Doesn’t love Adelaide - because, well, it’s Adelaide.

All you have to do is ring up Trade Radio, and the rumour will gather some legs.

Lobb stayed last year, has a great year. Bobby Hill stayed, had a Bobby hill year before unfortunate illness. Dunkley stayed multiple years.

My guess is Pickett won’t even try to leave because he knows what the answer will be. And port won’t even try to get him because they know what it will be too - for one they’d have to pay double what the draft capital price could be in a years time. They’ll all look foolish.

This is really a story just for clicks.

If PA are keen, they go all in with Kozzie this year, talk high salaries, tour facilities, and all that courting. Knowing full well nothing happens, but enough to try to delay Kozzie from signing next year.

Personally I don't think he'll go. He will absolutely be the priority of the out of contracts, and with Jackson gone there is plenty of money.

Relax folks. He has a Melbourne girlfriend. He's going nowhere

One of the Dogga 1st rounders, for arguments sake #10, and our 2nd rounder (this year or 2023) for Butters

BUT PICKETT STAYS PUT!

Membership will drop if we lose both of our best youngsters in Jacko and Kozzie, it’ll be a disaster for the club.

If you don’t renew your membership because of 2 players leaving then maybe footy is not for you.

You might think that, but it would likely have a significant effect on young supporters with 36 or 6 on their jumper. Kids aren't as rusted on as they have been on the past

Parents but their kids memberships, kids find a new favourite player very quickly

You're going by totals when there's a different amount of games though.

Average tackles per game he's down by 0.8 this year compared to 2021. Not exactly what I would call " a fair bit" and far from "alarming".

He's our number 1 player for average tackles inside 50 and our second for average goals.

Ridiculous to imply he doesn't impact "both offensively and defensively".

Kozzy had some special games kicking bags of goals and doing some great pressure acts.

But equally would go missing in large parts of games for weeks on end.

I recall countless discussions in game day threads this year where many were calling for him to be dropped not for a lack of scoring goals but not doing the simple effort based defensive work.

Don’t have to agree with me, but that is how I see it.

Same and it’s not even close.

Jesus I can deal with losing Jacko but to lose Pickett would be soul crushing.. he's one of my favourite players and he brings some genuine excitement and X factor to our team.

I mean he's still contracted for another year so we do have the upper power.

Really hope signing guys like Brayshaw to 6 year deal isn't going to hinder getting contracts sorted for the likes of Pickett.

Relax, we still got Charlie Spargo!!

Kane Cornes has just proved how easy it is to start a rumour

How about Port go [censored] themselves?!?

how about that?!

Ring ring ring

hello you’re on with trade radio

its Chris from camberwell I’m wondering if you can provide a report on young Kane cornes’ unfortunate accident where all reports indicate he got his testes stuck in his own mouth as I understand it’s caused quite the kerfuffle down the sheds and also I wouldn’t mind an update on young Karen picketts contract status and also is there any update on the status of Darren turner’s move to the wing which will see Alan brayshaw move to full forward

We don't need to be concentrating on this over summer. Wait till the start of next years season and we can blow it until it is 700 hundred pages long.

40 and 41 goals for a small forward is elite stuff two years running. His defensive presence is a bonus and I think he does that well.

Particularly when they're only his second and third years. Kozzy is a star.

Did you post that in response to my earlier post to start rumours about Butters and Rozee?

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
