Love the Ox!

Oh what he could have been.....

It was a tragedy that he hurt his knee, will never forget the 9 goals against Sydney, just sensational.

That he still finished with a good-VG career makes you think with two good knees would have been one if he greats of the competition!

Such a talent wasn't he, and a shame.

Imagine having that beast in the team now. Unstoppable.

Never mind, we have Sam.

If only there was a current-day clone ... absolute star quality.

JVR anyone?!

My hero growing up, he really was. No.5 on the back, still got that jumper somewhere.

I cried when we triumphed last year, I cried for Robbie after the 1987 prelim and I cried when he did his knee for the third time. That's about it. Oh - and when I had my kids.

Watching the Dees I've done alot more crying than that over the years 🤔😂

Theox Waa one beast of a player. Don't forget he struggled with knees issues too.

He and Neiter were a great combo.

The z factor.

Absolutely LOVE the Ox. Brilliant player and bloke.

I have huge respect for him given he came back from his knee recos and then his gambling issues. He is one massively resilient man.

Will always be a Dees man.

There is, his name is Buddy Franklin.

He was one of the best players I have seen at the MFC.

He was something to behold in 1994 and prior.  I was at his post 3rd knee comeback game. That was pretty special.

He is one of a handful of Dees forwards I have seen who could tear a game to shreds. Unstoppable at his peak, and a dominant  physical presence. If he was one of our forward options now, wow...

I love his unapologetic Support of the Red and Blue.

  • GAMEDAY: Fremantle

It’s Game Day and the Demons have made the long trip west to take on Fremantle tonight at Optus Stadium. Can Melbourne make it two from two to start the season, and what are you hoping to see from the Dees under the lights in Perth?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
