I like this thread much better than the other one on the top four.

I agree

About time for a bit of balance.

Gee, we would want to click.

Brissy at their home. We are similar, in that, the style of momentum shifts in the game.

Fight for 4 quarters, a little like how we did against Blue, but from the front and we win.

Go Dees.

Win.  Likely play Sydney in Sydney. Double chance
Lose. Likely play Tigers at the MCG. Elimination final.

Big stakes aren’t they. Tiges at the G is not a game I’d be looking forward to. lose and we well could be out in week 1. Gotta come with all guns firing in this one.

Why wouldn't we finish top 4 we have no fear of Brisbane. It's a 50\50 game at worst.

I believe in this team. We will win this game and we will be ready to go come finals.

Harmes comes in and shuts down Neale. Who wins their clearances?

we have the wood on them. Bring the intensity and we should win. Hopefully by 30pts and sneak past the swannies into 2nd spot!

We will win.

Brisbane are down hill skiers who fall to water when the pressure goes up. They have lost to Essendon, got run over by Richmond, almost got run over by Carlton and should have lost to the Saints in recent weeks.

Plus I just can't take a team with Daniher in it seriously.

Harmes did a number on Neale last time which is why I think he comes in. Don't know who goes out tho

The fact that we are even still 3rd at this point is pretty astounding. Having played 5 top 5 teams since round 15 it has been an incredibly difficult draw in the second half of the season. The more I look at it the more I realise how unlucky we've been with our fixture this year.

I can't help but think what would have been if we had played Freo and Sydney during rounds 1-8, we would have blown them away imo. Then, had we faced Essendon, GWS or the suns during our heavy midseason loading which obviously heavily affected our 3 performances before the bye, I think we well could have won them too.

We could have potentially been 12-0 before our QB clash and gone into the bye sitting on top with a 12W-1L record. No-one would be worrying about potentially dropping out of the top 4....

I hate it how some stupid journos keep bringing up the "they've lost 6 of their last 11 games" narrative and use that to compare us to the formline of Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane or even Collingwood. They have had a pathetically easy fixture since r12 or even after the bye so it's really hard to properly assess or compare the dees to the other top 6 sides.

Based on the "premiership" metrics where we sit 2nd overall, our interstate record, our wood over Brisbane and Brisbane's struggling form over the last month even against poor opposition, I have zero doubt we will win on friday, so get pumped everyone.

I hope we win, cos not finishing top 4 after 10-0 is poor.

No matter what happens from. Here they must review the hell out of the “loading” period and make sure this [censored] is never repeated.
Im hoping for some shake up at selection and a real edge, anything less and we get belted. We go in with a tough ferocious attitude and kick semi straight we win.

It's been big games one after the other and more to come

I'm very bullish about this one

The manner of the Carlton win will energise us and the Lions just can't get it done when the chips are done.

We'll finish 3rd and head to Sydney for the QF. And I'll be confident about that game as well

These are great times to be a Dees supporter

I don't think you quite understand what loading is but that's fine, it was one of the main reasons we were so dominant in the finals last year and won the flag.

Imo we didn't play enough top teams from rounds 1-10. We were incredibly unlucky to come up against mostly good teams in the 2nd half of the season. Unfortunately you can't choose the fixture and who you come up against at what point in the season...

The Cats seem to.

I agree we would have wasted that start, but weren’t that good tbh. The losing/loading period does need to be reviewed but selection doesnt need shaking up.

They need to go in with what we have and get our confidence and trust going and pressure and move the ball accordingly.

Well they had Hocking doing their work and now Brad Scott does it. Be nice to have that level of influence. Similar to what Eddie had over the fixture.

How much do we need to win by to get past Sydney??

Much has been made of the LIons record at home ,  won 16 or their last 18 , yadda, yadda, yadda......  as per AFL 360 last night. Classic Leigh Montagna skim over data, with no in-depth.

Lets look at that record for this season.

Beat only 2 teams in top 8 at home. Their 9 wins this season were all teams like north, suns, eagles, bombers for gawd's sake. etc.

Their 2 losses were April 14 against the Pies who would have overrun them with 2 more minutes to play

And the Blues 2 weeks ago, and we all know what that means.

Their Gabba advantage is an illusion .

I'm not worried now and i like this thread.

. We're interstate champions with 12 straight wins on the road to now.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
