Think I might have to watch the GF again to see how good this guy is…

But seriously, how [censored] will it be for those two to walk past the cup everyday.

All wise and powerful one, how do you keep on doing it time and again?

I continue to be mesmerised by your innate abilities 😁

One of the few players I rue us trading away, the hardness we missed through the late 90s and beyond.  yes there were non footy reason.

Lots underrating Jimmer Jordon here. He'd be ahead of both Harmes & Sparrow in the pecking order I reckon.

Hunter will also stay on the field all day like Langers, allowing our key burst players to get the rest they need during the game. That in itself is such a bonus when you look at how poor our fitness was this year.

The other benefit to this is we're potentially not so reliant on Langdon's wing, which teams tried to clamp down on this season. Two wingers that can run all day and cause some damage. That's a big win.

Didn't want him at the start purely because of his serious off field matters. Really hope we've done our due diligence here which I trust we have.

On a playing perspective, he was easily one one the best wingers in the club only a few years.

He was one player that would worry me the most because he was such a big accumulator and would punish us with his outside run.

His inclusion means James Jordon goes back into his natural position of inside mid. He's far better valued there then Tom Sparrow imo with his inside and outside work.

Didn’t Stengel have issues before going to Geelong and look how that turned out.

Let’s hope we get the same result with Hunter.

I said that about 2 weeks ago when Lachie's name came up. Has something to prove to plenty of new people now.

Angus is just now putting the stamp on Lachie's invitation envelope to the Wingers Club next meeting at Lingers Bohemian Pad in Fitzroy!

Also To the outdated D/Lers NO Tmac is not getting any Wingers Club invites. His time has run out and he never was a true winger, cameos don't count.

Jeezuz he can run all day, take a mark and is an excellent kick to boot, Tim might have done alright with this one. Just need to get him in with the boys and get his head straight and look out in 2023. I trust our FD to get Lachie firmly into the fold.🙏💕

He will respect Gawn and our culture, he's seen how dominate our best looks like up close and personal, he's here to win premierships.

All false bravado down at the dogs, he's obviously had some issues with Bevo, he comes under no false pretences.

Stating the obviously he is a hard working skillful, damaging left footer, the perfect compliment to Langers on the other wing

He'll be playing for a coach that has his respect and I'm sure Lachie will reciprocate with performances, head down, bum up proving the doubters wrong.

When the Football Brains on Demonland say NO,you'll be a 150 game Champion for the Demons Lachie.

Haha just seconds before half time he missed a pretty easy shot on goal. Probably saved us.

Lachie Hunter.?????? JUST LUUURVE THE SOUND OF THAT!@

Here's some highlights of Lachie Hunter.

As long as he is over his personal issues, I think he will be a valuable contributor to the Demons.

I'm sure he'll look a lot better and in a Melbourne Demons jumper too! 😉

Lachie Hunter had a few good highlights from his 2021 season with the Bulldogs as well.

He is definitely a goal kicking wingman who is pretty good kick inside the forward 50.

We can easily play him on the opposite wing to Ed Langdon or even on a half forward flank.

Our forwards will be licking their lips after watching his highlights. Beautiful, accurate, left foot weapon.

Very happy with Hunter. Smart player who is always in the right place on the outside to get used. Thought in 2020 when we were all bees to the honey pot he was exactly the player we needed. Will be a great partner for Langdon. To get him for a F3 only is a fantastic deal.

That was mainly him kicking goals from a pocket. We don’t kick goals from a pocket, we kick to a pocket in an attempt to not kick goals.

Would have been better to see some kicks along the wing from him but you watch what your given.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
