Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We will slaughter them Freo style tonight they will feel the heat and hear the foot steps like never before.

Lets see how good they are when the corridor is shut down like an unhygienic restaurant and retort to the Buckley way of footy.

Key indicators of us being on are our mosquito fleet you will know within the first minute of the game.

I thought all or duck or no dinner was saying something was all or nothing.  If their all out attack and quick ball movement doesn't work they don't end up getting any dinner, but if it works they get to have duck, which was a delicacy.  Could be wrong.

I think the Pies are a top 4 side, their ability to pressure the ball carrier has been underrated IMO.  They will always have a man press up and pressure the ball.  You can get them out the back but they make it difficult.  Wish I had the confidence of Binman.

Langdon really f'd up If you ask me.

Knowing filth supports they're going to relish in this opportunity to hate on our boys by booing the hell out of May and now unfortunately Langers. Since they'll probably be in greater numbers this will drown us out.

I hope this media overreaction has angered us to finally hand the filth the loss they deserve, otherwise we look like clowns. We are actually such a good team and it's time we show the opposition and competition our true premiership credentials. No more time for stuffing around, this is it. [censored] smash them!!!!!!

Which is what we like. Won 12 on the trot interstate with some hostile crowds. The more hate and booing from the pies, the better we will play.

Read my previous post, and the reactions of Collingwood fans. They don’t give a toss, and some are even all for it.

Honestly the pearl-clutching going on from some here is a bit much. What’s even more bizarre is the suggestion it will have any impact on the match whatsoever.

The idea that this will “fire up” the opposition? I mean, it might fire up the Campbell’s Creek Magpies but in a league as drilled, honed and already-fired-up as the AFL, such a polite bit of banter won’t touch the sides.

Our players have learnt to deal with expectation, and success, but many of our supporters haven’t. Minds still programmed as if Mark Neeld is coach.

I’m also surprised by the reaction of a substantial number of people on here. Using words like “stupid” and “dumb” and “silly” among other derogatory terms is unnecessary.
I personally find Ed’s candour refreshing. Besides, his comments weren’t overly inflammatory.

You're probably right but the game is often played above the shoulders and sometimes motivation can be an issue (even at the highest level) Certain players are always highly motivated (Viney) whilst others need a rev-up (HWSNBM!)

Still remember Buckley mentioning that in his belief, players shouldn't need to be motivated but he realised within a year or 2 of being the head coach that he still had to motivate his players

Scarlett once mentioned that one of Thompson's great qualities was his motivation skills

Ed hasn't committed a crime here but it is still quite rare for players or coaches to go away from player/coach-speak

I just would love for a Steven May, Michael Hibberd or Jack Viney to give Ginnivan a friendly hello in the rules type spear tackle tonight.

Nothing suspension worthy just a nice little reminder of who he is playing against and who the big dogs are in the game.

Ed's a clever lad he knows this is good for the game and our finals preparation.

He wouldn't do this during finals, all part of the build up and getting more people to the game, those silly Pie fools have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

Which has reached the point where interviews with players/coaches are pointless exercises in nothing-speak.

If it does genuinely motivate Collingwood players (50% of whom would be unaware what the term “One Trick Pony” even means), then it also would motivate the Demons just as much to back it up.

But I don’t think it means anywhere near as much to either team’s players as it does to the peanut gallery.

The players themselves surely wouldnt give a toss after the game starts.

But its an absolutely brilliant pr moment from ED.  These comments have generated headlines. If it gets people talking and hype about the game and leads to extra bums on seats or people watching, its winner winner duck dinner.

Not every person that goes to the footy is a mad follower, so the more we are in the press to stir a rivalry, the better imo.

They're a one trick pony. That's a pony with one trick. They're a good pony. It's a good trick. They're a good trick pony. They're a one trick good pony. They're a good one trick pony. Their trick pony is good. They have a pony and it does good tricks. They do tricks at the Pony Club. They're a tweaked peony. Their good pony twerked once. Only Grundy's tricked ponytail is good.

Right, I think I've put as much serious thought into that as it needed.

There is a chance that his comments might motivate the Pies in some ways ... but equally (as I mentioned in an earlier post) we may well be just as motivated

If you were a Demon player playing tonight you'd be well aware of how the Pie players would be approaching the contest ... you certainly wouldn't be expecting them to not be fully motivated.  We'll be ready for them

The game might have changed but the approach to the contest has not changed

That is certainly true but it's that way for a reason.  As boring as it is, I highly doubt anything will ever change (apart from the odd comment to the contrary)

There's also Pres-speak, media-speak and even supporter-speak

I've seen numerous people here on this very site being told off for being too confident

"If we lose, it'll be your fault" haha

Tonights game was always gonna be big.
Lingers comments have spiced it up even more.
Love it.

And from what I've seen and heard about Lingers.
He knows that when it all boils down.
It's just a game.

We got the monkey off our backs last year.
Now lets have some fun, be the big dogs and do this.

Great post.  The confected outrage here is just that.

Dees home game, so the Marketing dept. may well have written this script for Ed. And what a gift to the media for today and maybe a few more days.

Only Ed could deliver it with such aplomb.

Well done all round.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
