Posters rate Harmes too highly.

If he were as good as many believe, he would have found his way into the side.

Glad it's a settled side and can't wait to see Gus in the guts again.

Really think this will ignite something going into finals.

So Harmes is effectively omitted? Can’t say I understand that. Or is he still injured?

He was allegedly clear from concussion effects this week and named as a start-up for selection a couple of days ago. Against the Filth, we could use an effervescent Harmes and his muscle to clear the minds of some black'n'white pretenders.

So you're saying every $1.35 chance wins? Given the bookie's profit margin $1.35 is actually $1.40+ true odds. If every $1.40 chance won we'd all be millionaires.

I’m in a bet with mates group, we always bet head to head anywhere from 3-5 games a week. There’s been at least one major upset 15 out of the 20 rounds played  this season.

This was the only change likely given the big win but we still managed 18 plus pages in the weekly change thread

You have to worry about our sanity and life purpose.

Happy Hunt retains his spot, but the pressure is on to keep it

Well pressure from below keeps the First XVIII (plus4) on their toes.

Not omitted - just not returned.

Even if not, it will feel that way to Sam.  Will either melt under his hat like the wicked witch or steel himself to have a point to prove.

Sad for him he won't have a game to do it in this weekend though.

Don't start me again - byes are an abomination in any fair competition.  Gil please note.

Carn boys, get it done!

Melksham play your role again and kep your spot.

big watch on Gus, if he goes back to the backline and it looks to upset the balance he has to stay in the guts.

Agreed.
Pies have very good matchups on our key players.  Though I can’t see Cox dominating like he did in the QB game. That was ridiculous and Gawn/Jackson need to be ready for a physical encounter.

Mason Cox couldn't play two good games in a year.....could he?

He's played three exceptional games in his career, two have been against us, one against Richmond.  Surely he couldn't do it again.

Max had a significant injury on QB, was literally on one leg, I don't think he will let Mason have the impact he did last time.

IMV the only reason you would send Gus  back to his old role (now that Hunt is in) is to play a slow momentum game in the last 5 -10 minutes that's already in the bag or to cover for an injured HB.

Gus in the guts (or wing / HF) is so much more damaging & effective.

Correct me if wrong, but we had no May playing, Lever hobbling and Petty off the ground when they had that run-on?

Wont be happening again. In fact, most of our losses and teams going on a run resulted from the above happening in games where our talls were off.

Its a round 20,  2 v 3 clash!  Sides separated by percentage only. Its a huge game. Not so much one to be worried about as much as pumped and excited for...we get to prove ourselves (hopefully) on a Friday night with a crowd of 80k plus. These are the games that define the season. Id be "worried" if we were playing say the hawks or the bombers... this one Im just pumped for.

This is the stuff we used to lament that we weren’t involved in. Let’s enjoy it - we won’t always win them but that will make the next win that much better and we should be playing these games throughout the Roaring 20s…

We’re not smudging the glass looking in anymore, we’re inside the house with our feet up on the ottoman, reading the newspaper, and greeting the Pies as they arrive by peering over our glasses and saying “what took you so long?”

Don’t forget that I think it was Cox who deliberately and recklessly charged Max from behind in a marking contest with knees to the back.  A dog act by a lowlife 😎

On the last point, as our key defensive talls have been a bit vulnerable this year, is it worth having Tomlinson as the sub?

It could be, Gawn used to drop back and help out, but am noticing hes dropped off a lot in this role and I'm unsure why?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
