Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Grundy is probably wondering how Frampton has a premiership medallion, whilst he got the lemon and sars from the club he loved.

Players need to be open to redoing contracts. He would still be a Pie for $650K, A million is overs

I saw this a lot in basketball. Players  of lesser ability who follow rules/ game style and system are highly valued. Stars, gotta star, but tole players are valuable too.

Getting Grundy wasn’t a mistake.

He was a replacement for Jackson and yatistically their output as a second ruck was very similar.

Yes, Jackson was a slightly better forward but not by a lot.

The problem is, we tried to mould Grundy into a player he never was going to be instead of working to his strengths as a ruck.

The reliance on Gawn is unsustainable, he needed to adjust his game and spend more time forward because despite his kicking woes he can at least take a contested mark and wreaks havoc for opposition defenders in a time when we had no key forward.

Without Grundy, I highly doubt we would have made top four after Gawn’s injury which in itself was increasingly valuable for us going out in straight sets again.

I disagree. Unfortunately it turned into a massive blunder for the club, that I suspect had a greater impact on our finals campaign than just a player not getting a game. The blame for that ****show sits ultimately with Goody and to some degree with Max. I suspect Max cracked it mid season as he wasn’t dominating up forward or in the ruck. Remember originally Max was going to be the forward target, not Grundy. By seasons end Max was numero uno, the alpha male, and Grundy was a player who was  “not to be selected under any circumstances”.

Grundy was not Jackson.  We pinned our hopes on making it so.  Jackson checked out of his last dozen games so we have been off our preferred structure for 18 months. We need another ‘jackson’, or need to find another structure that’s works for us.  If grundy stays, we need to understand who he is and what he can do, rather than what we want him to do.  It would also mean Gawn needs to understand his capabilties and role as well.

I disagree Petty and Melksham in Finals would have made  all the difference required to get us over the line in all of those games, in my opinion. Grundy grabbed the opportunities with both hands when he did play, and we beat Colliwobbles  as well. Didn't we also heard that Max got injured again and so did Viney, which didn't help

Of course you are correct there. I remember noting to myself when Petty went down that our Cup chances were likely gone, then when Melk did his knee that was the ball game. However once that happened we had to improvise and as it turned out we lost 2 close finals by little more or less than a f**king straight kick. And in both finals we refused to select Grundy to play the sort of role we just witnessed Cox/Cameron/Frampton play to win a Cup. Still Flabbergasted!

The question is was not picked as due to Grundy refusing to play or Goody not willing to play him??

The conjecture about Max throwing the toys out of the cot is hilarious! The notion that we lost out by recruiting Grundy is also laughable (unless we are talking about a monetary catastrophe, which I do believe has several stages to play out yet). We got a good player in the door. It wasn't the only reason we failed to win a final. I reckon some good may come of it before season 2024 gets under way!

Club needs to clear the air of the Grundy saga as many unanswered question what went wrong & why he wasn’t played.. just can’t be swept under the carpet! look at what the pies brought in from the 22 trade vs us, there are ur answers

Grundy should retain his trade value. Before he arrived there were question marks over his durability. More specifically, his previous injury. That has been put to bed. He will be a great asset to Sydney. He is a good ruck man for the right side. Baffling why we got him, but the side that offloaded knew what they were doing. Collingwood have been strategic. Their coach is very well measured and in control.

Why wouldn’t Sydney play hardball on this. We showed how little we valued Grundy during the last part of the season. I would hope that we don’t sell him cheap l would rather keep him. We are totally reliant on Max who is getting older and is still likely to result in injuries throughout the year. I think the decision not to play him in both finals cost us a chance to win the premiership. While l have almost always supported goody this was a disgusting act, one that l still cannot understand what the hell he was thinking. I believe max needs to spend more time in the forward line to hopefully prolong his ability to play. max needs to work on his kicking, regardless of whether Grundy goes or stays. His wayward kicking has cost us games. He needs to step up and learn to kick goals.

KC needs to get down tonight  off the table  and  not shake his booty  just so that we will notice him  because that is not   the way that I like it.  He must be in the lead for The Golden Dermie for having ferocious position on eveything.   (Soon to be filmed as The Opinionator with an Arnie-lookalike in the title role)

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
