Bedford out surely. Whilst Fritsch won’t be dropped, he is playing lazy, selfish football. We have no one that can take a mark - BBB, Jackson and Gawn, hardly any.

We either need to play Gawn/Jackson forward more when they're not rucking, or we need to pick Weideman until TMac's back. We can't be that small forward of the ball.

Bowey and Salem both struggled tonight. With Rivers and Hunt out of the side, there is competition for their spots.

I'm not convinced by Bedford. His Brisbane game was good but he is too fumbly under pressure and with our run home, we're copping pressure each week.

Feel we need another tall in if they're not going to rest a ruckman in the forward line for the majority of the game. Weideman, Brown or JVR. Not great options but we need another target.

In: Whoever kicks goals at Casey

Out Bedford

Watched Salem closely last week and he rarely got into the game. One more game and then he might need a run at VFL if no improvement

In : Whichever of these two plays better at Casey... Rivers or Hunt

Out: Bowey

Salem has been struggling since he returned from injury. Bowey down as well, means we're just not getting drive out of the back half any more. But can't imagine dropping either of them, only alternative would be Rivers but not sure he's ready to come back in.

Must play Weed until Tommy comes good. We can't pick M Brown. We are too short in F50. Maybe play Chandler for Bedford and drop Jordon bring in Weed and play Brayshaw wing

Weid for Fritsch

Hunt for Bedford

Hope everyone else plays better.

Pray Clarry is ok

Midfield copped a hiding tonight.

Bedford and Spargo were average to say the least will be lucky to hold their places.

Said it before and totally agree. Critical for structure

We're not dropping Fritsch. No matter how angry you are at his game, we're not dropping him.

Onus is on him and the coaches to rid him of his selfishness.

Not sure Hunt for Bedford is right. Hunt's played defence for two years, so I'm not sure he gets swung forward.

There may be some nervous Demons watching the VFL game tomorrow night.

If Hunt and or Rivers put in a beauty, there will be pressure on Bowey.

Chandler could put pressure on Bedford

Weed has yet another opportunity as I feel we really need someone of his height in the forward line though he and BBB need to be instructed to lead in opposite directions and not to contest the same ball.  Neither have the smarts of TMsc to subtly Bloch and make space when they both fly.

And just maybe JVR could debut as the second tall forward, though it is unlikely.

AND PS - did that mongrel Selwood break Clarry's thumb?  If he misses then does Brayshaw finally get a crack at the midfield?

🖐️

Spargs has had a poor year by comparison. ANB as well. Their manic pressure is way off.

Bowey needs a spell or some time off, we forget he is a 2nd year player and he is starting to look like a liability.

Bring Rivers in Bowey.

Bedford stays - needs a solid block. If Chandler plays well, bring him in for Spargs.

Congrats on your debut Jacob

IN: JVR
OUT: Bedford

Fortunate for Sparrow we don't have a midfielder to replace him with

in fact if Clarry's thumb is broken then he may be a starting mid

The horror.

The Weid experiment is over. Time for JVR to be added to the forward mix.

In: Hunt, JVR, Dunstan

Out: Bedford, Bowey, Spargo.

JVR to give us another forward marking option. Hunt to replace Bowey who's struggled for a while. Dunstan to give us more grunt at stoppages and someone who can find the pill.

May was rubbish tonight.

Ah yes, that will fix our disposal problems...

I think we go back to the forward balance we had for the second half of last year and start of this year and bring in another genuine talk forward.

In - whoever earns it tomorrow out of Weeds, Mitch Brown or JVR

Out - Bedford (love him but still needs to work on some key things)

In : Weid

Out: Bedford

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
