2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Recommended Posts

Just watched the "Gettable" podcast.

In terms of the Dees 1st pick, Cal said we would wait to see who was left out of:

Curtin / Sanders / Watson.

He also said we would have an eye on Caddy (as he is a forward) and Windsor (who he described as the "flyer").

Also, Cal thought pick 1 would be traded to North. This would mean WC would be taking Curtin, which would leave us with Sanders or Watson. That would be a great result at our first pick, and I would expect it to be Sanders.

In all I’ve taken in (mostly from Cal Twomey and the like) we seem to be sitting in the bottom of the first two batches.
top 6 of Reid duursma and mcKercher, curtin watson and sanders

then next grouping is caddy Leake o Sullivan Windsor and Wilson.

If all is out of our control and we walk away with Sanders and Wilson then we’ve done alright. Nothing wrong with either pick and both should work out fine. But to me it just feels too vanilla (off topic:very underrated flavour)

I just have the feeling sanders isn’t a good Melbourne fit and will get the James Jordan treatment of waiting for something to go wrong with our all star centre square squad, none of which are close to finished.

If there isn’t a slider presented to us then personally I’d prefer Leake or O Sullivan at 6. Might be a stretch but I see both as better needs picks and would rather choose for list balance than for top end talent.

Feel like there ain’t no Bailey Humphrey at pick 6 in this draft unfortunately

Adelaide are the club showing most interest to Darcy Wilson and could grab him at pick 10.

It's quite amazing how much 'filler' time they do with that gettable show.

Non-stop talking all year round....

Yeah it’s good this time of year though. Best source of accurate information about the draft.

On the draft night when it comes to our pick 11, can we swap it for someone elses future pick. And could we for instance at our turn, swap our pick 11 plus our future 1st or 2nd to say Hawthorn for their future 1st?

Im not asking is it good value, I merely want to know if it is allowed.

Yep, providing all of that happens before the earliest current selection being utilised has been utilised.

6 & 11, for me , like to see any two of Curtin, Sanders, Leake, O’Sullivan, (Darcy) Wilson, Windsor or Murphy.

I’m swaying towards Schoenmacher as pick 11 if we take a mid with pick 6 and O’Sullivan is off the board.
194 not considered KPD but looks to me like one who has some brutality about how he goes about it and love that left foot

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
