Not sure Croft has nominated the Dogs, weighing up whether they have too many tall forwards, could be wrong but !  Western Bulldogs father-son prospect Jordan Croft yet to make call on future, 'open to other clubs' (afl.com.au)

This “phantom” has Gold Coast pick at 4 to pickup Ethan Read. Not sure why !!

Suns will trade this out and wouldn’t self pick an academy player until nominated by other teams.

Again have to wait until most trade and pick swaps occur to consider phantom type list imv.

If we bring in McAdam and Fullerton to add to forward line and ruck backup, then with likely 4 draft picks , I’d look at (depending on where the sudoku numbers/picks end up

- elite talent… Reid/Mckercher/Sanders

- elite ball users … such as running mid Darcy Wilson, half back Archie Roberts, tall defender Arie Schoenmaker

- father son Kynan Brown (late pick or rookie )

still wait until the pick numbers fall post the game of trading lotto !!!

I’m of the view that as we have a number of list spots to fill, we’ll probably not offload picks in an effort to move up in the draft chasing the likes of Reid, Duursma or McKercher, but rather, we’ll go for either Caddy or O’Sullivan, both of who look like excellent prospects… particularly O’Sullivan who I think has possibly been rated a bit lower than he deserves.  Interesting times ahead.

Sandringham Dragon Tarkyn O’Leary wins the 2km time trial at the Draft Combine with a run of 5:48 minutes ahead of Darcy Wilson (5:52 minutes).

Both are also elite ball users and would fit in nicely in the red and blue, especially Wilson.

If we keep some of our 20s picks would love to go for will brown

194cm captain at sandy dragons

bog in Coates granny 3 goals

did some great things up forward but is a midfielder. Maybe could be similar to a Mattaes phillipou play a third tall and pinch hit in midfield

I think it'll be somewhere in between. Short of a Reid mega deal, which appears unlikely, we'll keep 5 and maybe use 13 and 24 (or future 1st, 24 and 31) to try and get 10.

5 and 10 might get us Sanders and O'Sullivan, a great haul.

Still leaves us with a 2nd or 3rd round pick/s and whatever we get for Grundy. Late pick for Brown

JJ pick 39 for McAdam, future 3rd for Fullerton???

So, four draft picks and two recruits

Will Brown is a smart footballer.  He’s not a big ballwinner but uses his disposals and good decision maker.  Is he a medium forward or a mid? Not sure.  Might be somewhere in the late draft rounds or potentially a rookie.  He’s leadership was apparently very good and that’s a great quality in a youngster.

Im hoping the Cats will need more talent and will want to split Pick 7 as they have no other picks:

Geelong open to moving on top draft pick: AFL trade news - AFL News - Zero Hanger

As we will end up with a few this could be a possible outcome.

In our dreams!

In reality North will probably be given an extra pick and GC will trade pick 4 but still take Read as an academy player.

So there will be at least 2 additional picks before we are up and I doubt McKercher would last 6 picks anyway.

McKercher could get through if North go with Sanders at pick 3/4. Very good chance if McKay compensation doesn’t come in at band 1.

At this stage I only see 3 primary list vacancies to take to the draft.

Off (6): Harmes, Grundy, Hibberd, Melksham (re-rookied), Jordon, Dunstan

On (3): D.Turner (elevated), McAdam, Fullarton

One of those 3 will be Kynan Brown with a late pick, so we'll only be taking 2 live picks to the draft. We'll be trading up, trading out to 2024 or both.

I thought someone said Turner could spend another year on the rookie list?

With Deakyn Smith as rookie delisted. I’m not sure Daniel Turner has to be elevated. Probably yes as he has had 2 1/2 years in rookie list.  I can’t see BBB continuing unfortunately so might free up a spot in the new year.

I think there was some discussion associated with the new CBA that mid season rookies could stay on the rookie list for an extra year, so you might be right about Disco's elevation able to be delayed.

Reports from the BnF, BBB told posters that he's playing on.

Not sure how I feel about him only playing a handful of games and impeding the development of Jefferson, especially if Tom also plays on.

Update on our potential picks.

A ball magnet who’s played at a consistently high level across multiple grades during his draft campaign, Sanders was interviewed by multiple clubs at last week’s combine, with the Bulldogs and Melbourne showing particular interest in him.

The Demons are keen to move up the order, but if they hold their spot and Melbourne Grammar graduate Sanders is still on the table, he’d be hard to pass up, considering there’s a rival-club theory the Dees are looking for a ball-winner this off-season.

The Dees might also look at drafting Curtin with their first pick should he still be available, while mid-sized Northern Knights forward Nate Caddy – the nephew of premiership Tiger Josh Caddy – could come into the mix too. Although sources believe the Demons would more likely look at Caddy with their second first-rounder.

Melbourne, at this stage, looms as the first possible bidder for Gold Coast academy ruck Ethan Read – a freakish 200cm prospect who ran a ridiculous 2km time of 5:56. If the Dees don’t bid on him, don’t expect him to slide past Geelong.

I was watching some Curtin game clips this evening and kept getting this feeling like there was something familiar about him that made me feel good. It really bugged me - like I was missing something important.

Took me hours and a return session watching more clips but I finally figure it out.

Tall and fairly lean but with solid arms and shoulders. Something in the way he hunches forward when in congestion and then straightens up as he emerges. The way he'd do nimble little moves and it would seem like his long limbs were stretching out and twanging back again like elastic. Something in the kind of loping stride he did as he slowed down after taking a defensive mark at speed. Even something about his hair, narrow cheeks and the way his mouth would hang open a bit.

I could be completely mad but he reminded me of Jim Stynes. Enough that I got a little emotional.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
