In form he reminds me of atom Hawkins without the zimmerframe.

Although I notice he's been getting around on some sort of scooter.

In form he's unbeatable and set up our first 12 wins last year.

I do hope Weid steps up but I'm not too hopeful.

But this could be the catylist  that SW needs with a long string of games under his belt.

There's always hope as a Dees fan.

Cheers

Saw him at the Brissy game wth his ankle in plaster and riding a mobility scooter. He is a long way off.

Looks like season done, but one thing we can know is that if there’s ANY kind of chance at all he’ll be pushing hard  fr it. There’s a possible 2nd flag as the carrot. I doubt he’ll be giving up right now.

On the positive he will back for the threepeat.

Weid isn't the answer. It needs to be Bedford or JVR. Different players but for once other teams need to watch what we are doing and try to stop it.

Goornski for the year and agree Weeds not the answer. Blood JVR when Max returns and Bedford stays in!

He's got a metal plate in his foot, I'd have thought for sure season over. Would be some incredible feat if he sneaks in for finals.

Must be a very long shot, but in contrast to the report that his ankle was still in plaster our fitness guy had a video of him commencing weight bearing training on his ankle in the injury report

We can thank North for that

Actually you can thank the concrete dump that is Marvel for that.

He landed badly and hurt his foot. Nobody did anything unusual to him and he would do the same motion 100 times a season at the G.

His season is definitely over. His career might be too, as many players never come back from this injury.

Gonski for the year.

Looks that way as now saying 10-12.

Even by some miracle he does return, there’s been a heap of evidence over the years that suggests Tom takes a while to get going after a long lay off… & as we know, this injury is a no joke!

So in saying that, imo, it’s all but over for Tom this season. Up to you Weids & it’s make or break mate.

The Weed will be fine, have faith, just needs a good run of games.

.....have faith !!

The Pope says hi.

This is it for SW. He has to step up. T/mac gone  atleast till Sept probably 2023. JVR too raw. Must serve his apprenticeship in the VFL till sometime next season.

Huge risk playing  now.

Its up to the Weed. Start praying for a miracle.

It's the question of whether you can trust Weid over a block of games now. Was happy with him against the Lions but there is going to need to be improvement and more marks and goals if we are to make a serious charge. It's a big IF.

I'd say he done for the season.
It's also not the kind of injury that should/can be rushed in any way shape or form.
Has to be 100% or it can be a career ender.

Yes, hoping, but more realistically wishful thinking.

Definitely must formulate a game plan without him.

The chances of him playing again this season, based solely on the injury - Lisfranc disruption - are negligible. Part of this is down to loss of fitness whilst weight-bearing is limited and the catch-up then required. That it wasn’t a Lisfranc fracture bodes well however for next season.

Goody said in his presser it shouldn't say 10-12 weeks, he's more likely 6-7 weeks and they're expecting him to play a big role in the back end of the season.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
