Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

While yes the cats are reliant on quite a few ageing players, I think they’ve brought some good young players in this season that are showing some serious zip. I personally think at their best this season they look more dangerous.

still cant believe Crows gave Stengle away

Selective hearing but I had probably turned off by then. Media bias for larger clubs verses Top Of Table match. A Melbourne blowout so not appealing to the masses. Happy to stay under the radar until when it really counts. Have to wait till we play down the highway in two weeks as clearly the best match that week. If true to form they (media) will make the narrative about Sydney V Bulldogs.

No but both the crows and stengle have had issues.

And at the cats Stengle has an excellent mentor in Eddie Betts

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I thought we looked much better without a ruck in the forward line and just traditional setup. We were actually hitting up leads and there was space for the smalls to create pressure. The previous three weeks our conversion inside was 33%, 41% and 43%. Against Lions it was 56%. Double what we had agains the pies! I'm not sure where that leaves us when Gawn comes back, but I think we need to reduce the height on the forward line if we want to convert.

Petracca looked good on Thursday night but I would be interested to know if there’s anything being done about his kicking for goal. His goal drought extended this week and there’s no doubt he’s getting enough looks at the big sticks to say he should be doing better. That one on 3 quarter time in particular he should be nailing every time. In fairness to him he’s not alone, Nibbler and Oliver both missed very straight forward chances in the third. I’m not expecting our team to do what we did in the Grand Final (hell that was one out of the blocks), but it is frustrating seeing very getable chances going to waste.

EDIT throw BBB into the group wasting opportunities.

I'm certainly no expert but I would imagine anything technical taught at a young age would be hard to change. Maybe he can make some slight improvements but I doubt they will be wholesale.  I'm trying to improve my tennis backhand and rectify some bad habits from a young age and it's very difficult.

Not sure an 11 goal win against the second team  keeps you under the radar.

Two points -

I thought the AFL Players Association wanted a bye to allow players to rest. How does a "heavy training block over the break" make sense if the purpose of the bye is to allow players a rest? It reinforces in my mind that the bye is really about lengthening the season for the broadcast deal.

What does Collingwood do over the bye? We know de Goey went to Bali for a few days. How does that fit in with the idea of heavier training? Or does Collingwood not believe in the "heavier training block" idea over the break?

They may not be loading at all this year. Based on expectations for the season it was probably not in their plans. Wonder if it may be now?

Happy to keep under the radar, which makes it so much more joyful when we blow them all away in September!

Apologies if this has been asked before, perhaps in a different thread, but by beating Brisbane, we beat someone who was above us on the ladder. When did this last happen?

I remember all those dark years when beating someone above us was a rarity and to be savoured. It's now seemingly just as rare but for a completely different reason. Still worth savouring, though.

I'm not sure if Jordy understands the difference between training and partying - on that basis he certainly did set a cracking pace

Maybe the first Dogs game last year? Just guessing though.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
