DubDee 26,675 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 That second quarter was so enjoyable. Could easily have kicked 10 goals led by Viney we physically smashed them and they were left broken so proud of Jack and the boys 3 Quote
WERRIDEE 5,638 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 That's the dees we know and love, great to see the desperation back. Viney and Lever were huge. Jackson stepped up and I thought Weid played his role but saying that if Max is fit I replace him with Weid. Love the 3 tall set up look so much more dangerous with Bedford in the side. 1 Quote

Wodjathefirst 2,671 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 (edited) Might be going out on bit of a limb here. I’m a ‘loading’ believer, but I reckon we freshened up a little for this game. I hope we resume loading up for the next few games and taper from around end of July. May end up chewing my nails to the quick and see us lose a game or two. I am happy to see workmanlike performances for the next month or so No point peaking right now and showing the opposition how good we really can be when we get going. That is for later on in the season- my wish being that when we begin the tapering process we smash sides like Collingwood and Carlton leading into the finals. Having said all that, what I saw tonight was definitely shades of what we did last year, and wasn’t it great. (Sorry, should have posted this on the ‘loading’ thread- I have now copy pasted it across) Edited June 23, 2022 by Wodjathefirst Apologising for posting in wrong thread 2 1 2 Quote
rpfc 29,029 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Forward half pressure game is back! Finally. The ball movement was clicked into play as soon as Ben Brown tried a risky kick into the corridor and from there we took the game on and had some fun. That’s awesome footy to watch live. Ahhhhh. Jackson superb. Viney strong. Oliver inevitable. I like this smaller line up if we don’t have TMac; Bedford was great. We look quick, dangerous, and relentless. 5 Quote

Nairobi_Demon 335 Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Any others think we applied a different strategy to how we paced ourselves over the four quarters? In our previous three matches, it seemed that our strategy was to go hard at the beginning, get a decent lead and then just hold it as the loading fatigue hit us in the last third. This hasn’t worked, partly because our defence has been disrupted making it difficult to hold our lead. Today it seems that we started slowly, conserving ourselves a little, and then turned it on the second quarter. Clearly we weren’t as exhausted as previous weeks, but perhaps this also helped us converse what energy we had. 2 Quote

Anyone that's seen Fremantle replicate our defensive systems and restrict oppo's to 50-60 points knows they are out biggest competition. And those that have compared Geelong forward line to everyone else's, and now seen Chris Scott talk of loading, should be prepared for them to be up there too. There was a reddit post earlier this week with a Brisbane fan [censored] on Todd Goldstein for 'wasting his career' - I kindly remarked, that Toddy has played in 2 prelims in 2014/15, how many have these Lions players played in? 1.
