Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The last 6 odd weeks has been jam it forward and hope for the best,  So many times we have options but completely ignore them.

Nah, we've done this for years.
A couple of times I thought they may have rectified the problem.
But I was mistaken.

Apologies for being simplistic but our current predicament is largely on the coaches.

I tend to agree

Our fwd structure is terrible, pushing to high up and key fwds aren't in position to provide any options

And we clearly haven't trained to lead to position and naturally kick to that position  -  we just pause, wait for flood, and dump into the pocket

It doesn't work! Change it

Mitch brown never to play again. Just leave weiderman in.

Pretty slim pickings in our forward list once you take T Mc out. I'm not enamoured with either player and currently can't see us kicking a winning score...but [censored] the delivery into those boys was terrible today.

I BLAME THE CHEER SQUAD. Not NEARLY loud enough! LOLZ.

Incidentally, I sat nestled between Pauline (Mrs Fritta) and Shazza (Mrs Nibbler) and I now have temporary hearing loss. 🤣

The only other burning question, which remains,is that we have lost 3 weeks in a row, after being in front at half time.  We have then fallen away.  I would hope that if things were reversed in that regard, we would have also had a crack and fight back in the 2nd half.  But would we win?????

Hopefully, we geared up for this year, knowing that as the reigning premiers, we would be hunted in 2022.  Why have we not been able to rise to that challenge?

Somehow, magically, we've still conceded fewer points than any other team. And will remain like that until round 15.

Our worst three weeks in a while and we are still the best defensive team in the league. Goes to show how far ahead we were in the first 10 rounds.

I agree, JJ was very good. Had more than a fair crack

Very very solid but.... he slow plays far too often for mine and often down the line when (sometimes) the better option would have been to move it quicker with a short pass inside or over the top (when options were clearly presenting..obviously you cant if there isnt) and keep moving the ball up the field before opp has time to call in the cavalry and get extras behind the ball.

Nice but also a liability in this regard on occasions. Love the effort and the rest but would like to see a bit more quick ball movement and/or play on at times.

Not doing so makes scoring on the counter that much harder

Did anyone count the number of times interference occurred to our players and the umpires chose to ignore what was going on.

Every week it's the same. The players have to observe a different code of rules..to all other teams and this has been going on for about five to six weeks.

Petracca and Lever just aren't themselves..

Yeah… nothing wrong or broken at all…

I feel like this makes a very good argument for training loads. I’m sure people will see it differently, but does that not prove we don’t have the legs during this period?

We cant kick enough goals. They win games. Hopefully that will dawn on the coaches. Of it doesn't, we'll be lucky to make the finals.

Both the KTs are too easliy pushed off the ball or kept out of the marking contest with even a slight bodying from an opponent.

Without Macca we have no contested beasts in the air up forward aside from Max on occasions.  Fritta one on one gets hold of opponents at times and that's about it.

So when we supposedly did the training laid last year what rounds were they? And did we drop off that badly?

Unsure about loading, as I have no proof its even happening. However, we did start pre-season very late after the GF. Could have a lot to do with it.

Combined with the above possibility of loading and injuries to key talls, we just have to ride it out and hope we freshen up after the bye.

It still doesn't excuse the habit of old bombing long manically into F50.

We need a lot more from Petracca, Pickett, Jackson, B Brown, ANB and Lever though, some have had very underwhelming years.

You're delusional. We are fighting to stay in touch with teams. We've been outscored by 20 goals in the second half over three weeks. That's about a three goal deficient average EVERY third and fourth quarter. That's not just a slump. The season is done. We have Brisbane next lol

Things haven't looked good the last 3 weeks (even the couple before that). But this team and coaches have earnt the benefit of the doubt, I'll wait and see how the next 2 months play out before freaking out and declaring us gone.

We lost to the Pies last year in a game that was extremely frustrating and went on to win the flag. We're still 2nd (0.2% off 1st) after 13 games and will be back on top if we beat the Lions in 9 days.

I think during a 9 week period last year we won 4, last 4 and drew the Hawks game. Also, we had literally zero injuries during that period in game. I think that is impacting us badly on top of the training intensity - and when I say ‘think’ I mean ‘hope like hell’.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
