One of the journo's made a comment about Demon supporters being at the snow on Monday instead of the game

How childish and he should have been told to shut up by his peers

Supporter-speak I don't mind, but a professional journalist?

And the media wonder why we have little respect for the way they go about their job

It's a serious press conference interrupted by a comment that is better suited to the schoolyard

100%.

Imagine if a journo said to Craig McRae ‘Public Holiday game on Monday. You’d expect a big crowd - but you’d get a big crowd every Monday considering 90% of your supporter base are unemployed’.

Great response from our leader he talks the talk and walks the walk. So respectful to the club and playing group he will use this incident to reaffirm the team first culture that took us to the top. Such a shame that we had to redirect the news hounds back to MND and The QB Match, what has Happened to our press seems to have been a real drop off in IQ???

Ha ha!

Just goes to show how people can start believing an obvious untruth (or a myth) ... folklore then somehow becomes the truth

Upon hearing what was said (about the snow) I felt the question was asked in a serious way too ... not to get a reaction.  Goodwin to his credit just ignored the question as if the journo had asked another type of question

So said journo has probably thought long and hard about the question as they all knew the Goodwin presser was being held today

But it is true that the filth fans are mostly unemployed and don't have any teeth, isn't it?

Goody smashed them. Just too good and too smart.

How lucky are we to have Goody and Gawny.

Exactly - besides, as any discerning Melbourne supporter will tell you: weekends and public holidays at the snow are for the unwashed masses. Real Melbourne supporters go during the week, when there’s less riff-raff and a much shorter queue at Kofflers.

Max and Goody putting on a media conference clinic this week, great performance from the coach in answering questions that had quite accusatorial insinuations which would have made me fire up if I had to face them.

When you consider how Chopper Read, I mean Bevo, reacted earlier in the year and in all honesty how a host of other coaches have responded to controversial events in the media, it certainly makes me grateful for Goody's straight up and down style.

Agree, he nailed it!

I reckon he was having to work pretty hard to prevent himself from laughing at some of the stupid questions!

It’s not a challenging ‘connect the dots’ - we won’t need a Jan 6 Commission for this  one.

Of course, that’s about a former President…

An excellent presser from Goody.  Very balanced and unemotional, didn't shy away from issues of the week.

Thought he did a great job also….now for our footy to do the talking on Monday!

.. and the other 10% in jail or on parole

But back to the nitty gritty - Goody handled that incredibly calmly and logically.  We are in good hands, I believe.  The big question is can the on field team mentally lift on Monday to give the Magpies a good old fashioned flogging?  It will be a true test of footy and of character - a season defining game.

The whole thing has been a beat up by the media. Most of those journalists (at the press conference) can barely string a grammatically correct sentence together.

I disagree mate - we will probably lose this week -  rest and build from the brissie game -

Tmacs replacement is our biggest concern.

Last few weeks has been lacking  . our season will be defined in 3-4 weeks time when May is back and we find some form up forward- will take another player like Weed to find form .

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
