Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Majak Daw Driving Charges

It could be as simple as he moved and didn't get notice of a suspension due to points accumulated and also didn't get rego renewal.

I note he also was coming off a very heavy mental health episode, so not totally unexplainable, possibly.

Still all that being said, drivers need to be licenced and cars registered before driving.

Possibly looking at a fine and further period of suspension.

Or he could have originally lost his licence for deliberately running over a Labrador puppy.

This seems like a silly thing to do - but not front page of the herald sun worthy. Shouldn’t have done it, but not like he was speeding / drunk etc. just driving

Disagree entirely. It's entirely worthy of the Herald Sun's front or back pages given the Herald Sun's quality is barely up to wiping your backside standard. Remember they were the paper that posted the pre-season story about Goody only 12 months after it supposedly happened. Only 6 months late in this case so they're progressing

I’d believe that. I had an at-fault car accident without insurance in my early 20s, however your counterpart at the time didn’t have too much trouble finding me, they just had to get the police report (my car was totalled so no getting away with it).

Reason for not having insurance: couldn’t afford it. Now you can argue if you can’t afford insurance, you can’t afford having a car, but reality is I needed to work and study, and I lived a considerable distance from both places from the places I needed to be (because poor) with limited public transport. People with less means unfortunately often feel they have to take more risk to get by. And like Mr Daw I got the privilege of a couple of police charges too just to rub salt in to the wound.

Anyway I was “only” up for about 3k for the other party, plus obviously the loss of my own car. Had to take out a personal loan to cover it all, I made sure I borrowed enough to grab a year or two worth of insurance too. Haven’t ever gone without it since, although I’m in a significantly better place financially now so it’s a (privileged) no-brainer.

In any case, it’s the personal indemnity insurance you get from your registration that is the issue. It’s why “unregistered” charges always come with an “uninsured” charged. As far as I’m aware NSW is the only state that enforces compulsory third party insurance, but I could have that wrong.

In Victoria it's similar to Tasmania - your annual registration fee includes a payment to the TAC. Once you are registered, you are covered by the TAC for any liability you have as owner/driver of the vehicle for injuries to other people (with certain other exceptions).

So, as has been pointed out, if you drive an unregistered vehicle, you are not entitled to be covered by the TAC if you injure/kill someone.

Whilst not in any way excusing Majak for this indiscretion, I think we should congratulate him for at least having the mental strength in putting it aside in yesterday's VFL game and playing what sounds by all reports to be a very solid performance, against his ex teammates.

Lol. The prospect of maybe receiving a $500 fine would be weighing pretty heavy.

I reckon Majak was outstanding yesterday. It was one of the most dominant ruck displays I've seen at any level!

It is much easier to inadvertently drive an unregistered car now that there are no rego stickers.

Property insurance has never been required.

I believe those injured involving an unregistered car are still covered.

It is also common to be unaware of a licence suspension, unless it happened in court.

I think we can cut Majak a bit of slack.

Hands up all of us that have breached a traffic rule in the past...caught or otherwise.

Surely it should have been a fine suspended until the end of the season. Didn’t the courts get the memo?

Thanks.

But just to clarify, I believe this is not the reason for his unavailability at this stage.
Can anyone confirm he has a moderate physical injury to his pectoral muscles ?

Not sure about 'moderate'.  Goodwin said yesterday the injury happened a few weeks ago and he won't be available for another month.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
