Before you all bite my head off im not one bit suggesting we chase him at all.

I heard Tom Browne (yes yes I know..)  mentioned that a prominent Melbourne club has shown interest in Dylan Shiel.

Only reason I bring him up was the Mark Williams connection. In a interview few weeks back Gawny jokingly asked Chocco what would it take to bring Shiel to the Dees and Choco smirked and said something along the line that he was tired up with his contract.

Wonder if it's us that's sounded out his management.

There is no way we would have the cap space and he is surplus to our needs

We would have to offer Essendon our first round pick for them to take up a large portion of Shiels contract. Maybe even first and second. Shiel is on 800k a year. I don’t see Essendon taking up half of his contact for just a first rounder. I can’t see a real workable deal. Maybe throw in Tom McDonald if he finishes the year well, as Essendon do need a veteran forward to decoy for Wright. Even then, the only way I see Shiel to Dees is if Essendon are desperate to get rid of him, and no other clubs are interested in him. But, the interest in Shiel is practical, as he is what we need, and most definitely appears on the outer at Essendon.

Sheil would be a solid player in a good side. He is an excellent kick from stoppages

But his contract is ridiculous so it would have to be completely rewritten for us to have any interest

he is doing nothing at Essendrug, but he is not alone

He’s an awful kick, it’s the biggest deficiency in his game. His defensive running is his second biggest issue but that’s an easier fix.

- big contract
- 30 next year
- relies on pace
- defensive running needs a retooling
- has other interests outside football that may mean he lacks motivation

I thought Clarko and Wright had both left Hawthorn.

Surely its North.

No way we should be interested.

("Prominent Club" could mean almost anything)

2019 called, they want their desperate mid-season trade idea thread back!  ( I was guilty of this as much as anyone)

Nah. He doesn’t work anywhere near hard enough to fit into our structure.

A player who refuses to work hard defensively will not make our team, can’t imagine we would give it consideration

Maybe Reece Conca is out with the Covid H&S protocols this week, and needs a replacement?

A few years ago sure but about to hit 30 and his main asset is pace which will be on the decline soon. His main weakness is defensive running, which is our teams MO, so he’s not a fit for us.

If Essendon pays half his contract I'd give up a 3rd rounder + filler for him  Maybe Melksham lol

Must admit I have thought about this one 'dazz'...the only way we could take him is if EFC wanted him out and we got him for chips and they paid a big part of his salary. A bit of a Treloar type deal I guess.

Not sure I can see it happening though.

The question is we all know what we are going to get with Dylan, the mystery is what value they would be after from us.I would prefer Tom to finish here and serve the Club if he wants as he tactically of value..in my OP.

Over priced average player?

Obviously Carlton are the club

Watched him closely yesterday

He was kicking very nicely. He can play when he wants too

I actually quite like him as a player, just needs to tidy up his disposal, but no doubt Choco would help with that. Ultimately for it to happen and him to come to Melbourne the Bombers would have to accept very little in return, and pay a good amount of his salary.

I suspect North, St Kilda and Hawthorn would all be interested.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
