We could be playing West Coast this week who have 17 out and our supporters would still be making a case for the Eagles to get up!

37 point win, including resting some stars in the final 10 minutes.

Relaxing evening to come

For so long as we are going into games with four first choice defenders out, including Lever and Salem, we are going to be at risk of conceding scores when we otherwise wouldn't.

We did great against the Dogs last week but that was in prime conditions, not in slippery tropical conditions.

And although we have come off one of the best seasons any side has had in the last 21 years, we dropped games to Adelaide and Collingwood and drew with Hawthorn, as roaring favourites each time.

There's no objective reason to be concerned. We're the best team in the competition. But we won't get through this year without losing games.

If it’s wet, that bodes well for us. We are a contested team, whilst the Suns like to run (not as easy to do on a heavy ground).

Having Lever and Salem missing is a huge hole in our team. They are 2 of the best defenders in the league so any win without both of them is worth it. I hope Lever is ready next week. Also Petty is a valuable CHB and having him out is a blow.

We should win and although the Suns might be plucky and playing at home, I’m feeling somewhat more confident knowing the team had a run on the ground last night, with rain - so basically the same conditions as tonight I imagine. Let’s hope we can crack in like last week and take the game away from them, and then keep going with it.

I live between Brisbane and the Gold coast and sun is out but plenty of clouds around. Will be going down later and just hope the weather stays OK. Any storms later should be out west away from coast Looking forward to seeing them live again. Should win by at least 30 points.

We are reigning premiers yet we get shunned to Foxtel. I know port are a top team to, maybe they wanted to put the Hawks on because of Mitchell. Anyway I'm happy to watch it and free

Was unaware that this could be 10 wins in a row. As it should be against this Clayton's club.

Yes  gone are the days Id lament the wet weather and how it worked against us.

We thrived in all slippery conditions last year with ground ball gets and even contested marking.

Bring it on,

Your poor old Uncle Bitter had planned to give Metricon a boost by attending in person. Unfortunately ........you know.. circumstances changed..... and spectating shall take place in the The Manor's modest theatrette. Hopefully in the company of an immodest maid.

While the Suns have some very handy up and comers , and may even, finally, become competitive they will be no match for the Dees.

A comfortable 39 point victory beckons.

Agree Uncle.

Ill be taking the 1-39 pts on offer, as it seems early in the season the Dees just get out there and get the job done. We will leave the thrashings for the Cold Pies later in the season when we have a fit and firing full implement of troops. It will be wet as well i would imagine.

Absolutely persisting down near Lismore. It’s heading northish

Not humid. Cool.

Big cell looks like sliding toward Carrara.

heading up soon with my cheese collection to meet Brownie

first game in 11.5 years (last game QBW draw 🤮)

47 point win with everyone talking about how we would have won by 80 if not for the repeated 50's gifted to GCS by the maggots.

Sunny here at the moment. Hopefully the rain holds off.

Any word yet on the Medi Sub?

Rain bands to both the West & Sth at the moment, but neither seems to be moving at the moment.  Might get lucky!

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
