I reckon the Bullies will be yapping at our heels for maybe a half and a bit, but then we’ll show them who’s boss, with our rucks and mids leading the way. It won’t be shellacking like the Grannie, but enough to show them, and any other wannabe contenders, that we won’t be going away any time soon.  Dees by around 7 goals.

The AFL want a record this weekend, guess what no general parking at the G all weekend. Only parking for the toffs and disabled.

Think Gil needs to tell his vision to the  MCG hob nobs.

will foodisgrey be wearing their white away strip?

They probs hope not. White is not the ideal colour to wear when there’s a high probability that one may be sh***ting oneself tonight.

Yeah he was rambling on about how he wont tell his players to bash up ours but it they wanted to its up to them....what the hell concentrate on playing footy would be the general advice!

In contrast, Clayton and Josh Dunkley together on the news last night handled the issue professionally and with humour.  Non story and well spoken Clarry. Dunkley too.  Take a look Bevo.

If the bulldogs come out all aggro they will most likely crash and bash into Max ala Port a few years ago, then try to smash Oliver and maybe Salem.  They have little chance of belting Petracca, most players can't even pull off a tackle.  Even Fritsch might get a serve.

Not sure who their really aggro players are, maybe Libba, Hunter and Martin.  Our players will be ready.

I just hope the umpires don't go easy on the bulldogs throwing, ducking and flicking and have got over making an example of us with the new 50m rules.

Can't find who the umpires are.  Hope it isn't the guy who felt slighted by Tomlinson and paid a 50.  Gavine, I think.

Dogs don’t have players capable of “bashing” anyone. Compared to us they are about as physical as Olivia Newton-John’s film clip.

When the siren sounds to start the match, we go back to 0-0.  All bets are off.  Cant walk around like we are still ‘the premiers’.  Gotta put it all behind us and switch to beast mode.

Nope - umpires are Howorth, Findlay and Mollison.

Right. That's work finished for the day. Now to make my way to The Tippler for 5pm opening. Let's hope they have a good range of beers on tap for the new season or it'll be straight onto the espresso martinis. Enjoy the night everyone!

Your Top End correspondents will be in attendance this evening  Currently enjoying repast and beverage at Bellota Wine Bar. Premiership hangover? Hair of the dog?  Coiffured and cute but no bone. Hairdryers are getting a workover at Teddy’s saloon as we speak.

The paper reckons 60k. Surely there will be 60k Melbourne supporters alone and we're looking at 80k

It's a shame that it's a school night. It's keeping away my nephews and because they're young their parents too. That's 5 less than it would have been perhaps on a Friday night or Saturday day.

There's probably a bit of that combined with the other end of the age spectrum - late night, having to navigate this whole ticketing system

Wrong priorities. School is not as important as football.

I've seen this posted here, but just seeking clarification...Is the carpark completely closed for General Public parking? I have consulted the MCC site, which is vague at best.

If this is the case, what a complete disgrace. It is a Wednesday night. People want to get home early. Why on earth would you close the car park?  No doubt the metres will be patrolled all over Jolimont. I have an elderly father, he isn't disabled, but relies on driving in. There will be no parks within 2km. He will struggle to walk and why would you want people crammed on public transport. Complete balls up

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
