Crowd size

Featured Replies

Hi Good Dees people.

Just wondering what people think the round one rematch crowd will be?

TX.

I'll say 54k

I think a lot of ppl are still hesitant to be around big crowds or comfortable watching from home.

Also Wednesday night doesn't help.

Exclude anyone who lives outside of greater Melbourne, exclude families with young kids, exclude anyone with a serious job.

In fact exclude a hell of a lot of people who don’t have the luxury of going on a Wednesday night or need to be in bed at a reasonable hour.

Oh I forgot it’s televised. Stations and advertisers will be elated.

117,245 with the newly built MCG roof on display

Judging by how Melbourne traffic has returned to nightmare levels I predict 81,116.

I have a feeling the attendance will surprise a few.

Im going to be positive and say 91,345.

This can misconstrued.

I am saying I will be there and after I will be Covid positive.

91000

Given this is a thread about numbers, I thought I’d throw in that todays date is a palindrome (22/02/2022). But I digress.

I think the crowd size will be somewhat dependent on ticket prices. I thought last years Anzac Eve would be around 75K but it was only mid 50’s. I know people who didn’t go because it was just too expensive.

That said, my guess is 70K, including three generations of dees tragics in my family (and a black sheep doggies supporter)

57k, just to put an exclamation mark on it😂

You beat me to it. Haha

We'll do well to get 60k and I think that would have been the case whichever day or night the game was played on. Finals aside neither have been able to attract supporters through the gates in big numbers. That said it's still double what you'd usually get for this fixture.

Didn't see your prediction at first DZ but must acknowledge it 😉

For a replay of the GF the attendance should be 61,118. I don't mind the different location, afterall, I got to see the original 😁and how beautiful it was!

Around 51K. If raining 40K

still a lot of people avoiding public gatherings

As well as being a palindrome, it’s an ambigram…

reads the same upside down. 🤓

66,666

I'd be surprised if there's less than 60,000 there.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
