Massive blow for the the Suns, can’t really take a trick. I hope King makes a full recovery, looks to be a genuine star in the making.

Bad luck for the young man still who's still developing and finding his way, despite having a brilliant start to his career in a challenging environment.

He's probably the Suns most important player. Their forward line will struggle without him and they'd have to be favourite to win the spoon now.

Will he ever play for the Suns again? Will he head back home to Victoria?

Trac did his ACL very early on and he's gone on to become a star.

This is far from ideal, but setbacks early in the career of a very promising player rarely mean much down the track. If anything they teach you about resilience and recovery.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

The question I immediately asked myself was would we want him now? Hypothetically, let's say we could land him, I wonder...

I don't think it would put any clubs off to be honest.

Bad luck for Max King, but that’s footy, sadly (just ask the women, with ACL ruptures more this year than any before). As a likely 40-50 goal forward, the Suns couldn’t afford to lose him, and this will force the end of Stuart Dew’s tenure. As a cheeky tie-in to this week’s “BIG NEWS STORY” (according to the Herald-Sun), this is why coaches get so stressed/anxious/angry about injury situations and are thus inclined to take it out on medical staff. Their jobs/careers simply depend on players being fit.

100% would take in a heartbeat. He would thrive in our environment and have some really good role models in Brown and Tmac when it comes to professionalism. Zero pressure to come in and be the star and a perfect replacement for those two who aren’t getting any younger.

Shame we have no cap space and I’m going to assume no draft picks to make this happen.

I still would without hesitation.

Unfortunately draft capital and cap space is our issue.

I certainly hope that Stuart Dew didn’t use the “f” word in earshot of the club doctor, or have a beer with any of his players, as this would be a massive scandal and probably force the impartial Gil to close the club down.

I still feel like they are a long way off being a real club. It must be so difficult to watch strong Victorian teams with lifelong passionate supporters for the young players at GCS and GWS. You are in the AFL system, but not in the AFL culture. It’s a minimum 30 year build, more likely 40 if the first 10 years are anything to go by for the Suns.

It’s a huge commitment from the AFL, and it must take a lot of work behind the scenes to maintain. I applaud Ben’s loyalty. Be interesting to hear the terms.

Terrible for the young bloke.  As another poster said, a potential star of the comp.  The incidents of serious injuries these days is a worry.  It's almost guaranteed every year that several players will cop a season ending injury.  Just hope that recent serious injuries to Tomlinson, Lever, vandenBerg et al keep our quota as fulfilled for a while yet.

On another note, there is a lot to be said of the 70's and 80's version of footy training.  A couple of laps, kick to kick, circle work maybe a bit of one on one/backs -v-forwards and then a sprint to the sheds for a can of VB!  Hell, I even remember blokes having a smoke at half time!  BUT....very few serious injuries.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
