Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This membership table comes from the HS on 19 Feb. West Coast had the most members last year and are probably on top at this point. We are having our best year ever and are 9th. A bit of a reality check about the relative strengths of the Clubs and where we sit.

Richmond 84,948
Collingwood 70,000
Carlton 67,928
Essendon 60,678
Hawthorn 60,100
Port Adelaide 52,164
Geelong 49,055
St Kilda 43,500
Melbourne 43,000
Adelaide 40,000 +
Fremantle 40,000
Western Bulldogs 38,824
North Melbourne 38,756
Sydney Swans 35,722
Brisbane Lions 29,318
GWS Giants 25,094
Gold Coast 8,721

Makes me puke seeing the Carlton and Essendon membership numbers where they are given how crap they've been for years.

I think there will be a huge serge in wthe first couple of rounds as we celebrate the premiership., I’m still predicting 65-70k which will put us well within the top six. If we go back to back 2023 will be well in excess of 100,000.

‘Well in excess of 100k’…

You are just setting yourself up for disappointment.

We need to be in the top 4-6 teams for 6+ years with at least 2 flags and then we can talk about having market share like that.

Ok so I want to sign up, I was a redlegs member back in the darkest days from 2008-2013, but those are all sold out now and the trident too (which is around the price range). Forgive me if I'm wrong but if I'm a member I only want to sit amongst my fellow kin and be undercover.

Of the 40k or so we have currently what is the breakdown of memberships? in terms of Redlegs, Trident and so on...

So are you saying you won’t buy a membership if you aren’t assured an undercover seat?

And you were a member in 2013?

So possibly getting wet < 2012 Neeld era Dees?

Maths is wild.

There’s a roof going over the ‘G so you’re all good with the undercover part.

They should have reserved seat packages for undercover seats on level 1 can't remember what it's called though.

There used to be a membership category called "demon seats - undercover" that was on level 1 on the wing. Had GF guarantee too if I remember correctly ...

I predict we will be at 65-70 thousand by mid year particularly if we start well and the girls take out the flag. We traditionally sign up a lot of our members in the first 3 or 4 weeks of the year, and so it will be this year.

I can only assume you're a youngster...

We reached approx 53,000 members after our grand final win. Some of those members were WA people who support other clubs but purchased a membership to gain GF entry.

Where do you believe another 15-20k members are going to appear from by the middle of the year?

The only possible way that could possibly happen is if the MFC/MCC dual membership came down to some ridiculous price.

I don't understand where you think that amount of new members will come from if not from the MCC?

Weve had more than that many unique members over the last 5-10 years.

We were on track for $60k before Covid hit again.

I don't think 65k is out of the realms of possibility after a flag, but I think it will end up somewhere between 60k and 65k.

I reckon if we build a new entertainment, training, community centre in Fishermans Bend/ Port Melbourne with its anticipated 800,00 new residents we could easily look at that membership.

Correct DC. Why people keep thinking fisherman's bend is beyond me. The board says G precinct. Everything else will not happen.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
