This is so disconcerting, being an actual AFL club of substance. Kudos to getting another up and comer signed on longer term.

His aggression/arrogance grew with his confidence this season, he was really into English and Schache during the grand final.

When was his contract due to run out? It doesn't actually say how much longer he's signed on for.

Gun player BTW, will be a key pillar of our backline for years to come.

I reckon he was contracted til the end of 2022

Good luck to any opposition team kicking a winning score against Petty, Bowey, Salem, Lever Rivers, Hunt,    etc and of course May until hopefully his 38th birthday. Honourable mentions to Spargo, Langdon, Oliver, Neal-Bullen, Brayshaw and all the other 'team' defenders who help out

The amazing stat this year as noted on the finals discussion was that if Dees kick over 65 points they win, such is the effectiveness of the defesnive stratgey and personnel.

Moved from a possible to a definite during 2021.

Will be interesting to see where Tomlinson is played in 2022 and if Petty is played forward what about TMac and Weid

Love his aggression and the “don’t mess with me or my teammates” attitude. The good thing is that he is not alone.

Good get!

What do we think he’s on. My thoughts would be about $400k per year. They’d have to factor in how good he could be in 2024 and 2025. He could be on as high as $450k if they think he could be a 550k-600k player in those last 2 years?!

fantastic result - this will take him through to free agency, i would expect?

by the time the end of 2025 rolls around he could be well primed to take over from lever as our tall backline 'general'

you would imagine both the crom and the pear would have been in his manager's ear about getting him home to south oztraya - he is EXACTLY what they are both missing from their current line-up

He did an excellent job on Hawkins in the Prelim when May went off with hamstring issues.  If he puts on a bit muscle, learns a few more tricks from May and in due course can replace him.

Contract renewal is for 3 years 'til end of 2025.  By end of 2025  May will be a smidgeon under 34 (January birthday) if he is still playing.  Petty will be 26.

Great signing not just now but for future list planning.

Edit:  Just noticed that he will be an RFA at the end of the contract.  Imagine if he has another premiership medallion or two and will be 26; at his peak.  Will be in huge demand.  Oh well.  Let's make hay while the sun shines with him and the other premiership youngsters.

He would probably prefer you to talk about his aggression towards players who are not in the top 10 softest players in the entire league.

The way that he stepped up and hit the ground running shows the quality of our development team and Harrison’s character, he grasped the opportunity and exceeded all our expectations.💕❤️💙

I still think there is a chance he might end up forward, he is a really good contested mark when  he makes that his focus.

But regardless, he has been sublime this year. His timing to leave his player and commit to being an additional spoiler, has all the ear marks of a young Lever. And that touch of arrogance is great to see.

Really happy with this extension. Now we just need Turner to come along too. Lever, Petty and Turner post May. I'd be completely happy with us targeting another KPD in the first round this year, if we think they're good enough.

We want that second wave of elite talent continuing to come through underneath Petracca, Oliver, Salem and Lever.

Since you game style relies heavily on excellent defence, I'm happy if we keep nurturing those sort of players.

Reckon this bloke can be an All Australian in three or four years.

Great contested mark. Tough. Great spoiler.  Good disposal especially kicking. Will become  a better handballer with more experience.

Incredible talent identification by our recruiters.

How goals did he have kicked on him since he came into the side?  Couldn't have been many.  Can't remember him getting outmarked too often either.

I remember when we drafted him Jason Taylor got asked why we would take him when had plenty of tall backmen. JT said when "a jet" is available at your pick you take them regardless.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
