Denis Cometti who would have said the pass by Harmes was 'centimeter perfect'

Let himself down here: all he had for it was "What a kick", in the background...

Raw emotion that all of us could relate to. Hard not to tear up

I've got to agree, this fella's expression is wonderfully raw and expressive. Though(?) - and this has been sitting with me since first viewing, on the night - looking at his mannerisms, I'm thinking it comes from some degree of (and I apologise for the poor choice of words available to me) disability. Others, better experienced to consider this, may have a more informed and nuanced view?

It is one of the images of the night for me.

Love it. Did anyone else notice Oliver’s terrible ball drop on that last goal? Sometimes everything goes right. 😀

Yep, almost came off his shin.  Outside Fritsch first goal the others all went straight through the middle of the goals, even Petracca's dribble kick right through the middle.

I hadn't noticed Daniel's reaction to Oliver's goal before: hands out 'how do we deal with that?!?'...

The doggies were totally gutted.

One can only speculate ( fantasise) about the possible carnage if the quarter went for another 3 or 4 minutes

It kinda did, we kicked two in the first two minutes of the last meaning we kicked 5 goals in three minutes of play! extraordinary really.

when Clarry raises the arm and signals after the goal, that’s when I dared to dream that we’d win

Oliver is the best player I have seen in my lifetime for the dees. When he raises his arm I knew we were home.

I think that guy kinda represents how just about every Dees supporter was feeling at that point in time. Almost like not knowing how to feel about what was unfolding in front of our very eyes.

My son with his big ol’ psychology degree reckons that that action of putting one’s hands around one’s neck harks back to caveman days as a sort of protection mechanism. Only, in this case it’s not the body (or head) needing protection, but the heart, so to speak. Maybe he’s right. After all, we Demons tragics, more so than any other team’s supporters, have had a need to develop a means of bracing ourselves against the inevitable heartbreak.
Don’t forget to tune in to next week’s episode of Armchair Psychology… “How to reconcile with the fact that Essendon will always be a thing despite how much you wish they’d burn in hell for all eternity.” 😁

Agreed. Watched it and at the very end Daniel looks to his midfield teammates and asks “how am I going to stop that!!”  He had three players running at him and was helpless to stop our avalanche.  Daniel - the little man who thought he’d take on big Maxy … who’s laughing now !!! Bang bang bang bang. 🏆

Yea, was a look that seemed to say a lot. Mostly it encapsulated the fact that about 15 mins ago they could see a flag looming to it being taken away from them.

None of us have really seen a last minute of a quarter of footy like that. I think the dogs fans would have had trouble processing it. Suffice it to say, they must have felt this was the end of their 2021 footy dreams. That it just happened so quickly and seemingly out of the dogs players hands would have been quite surreal. If I was a dogs supporters i would have been frustrated giving up a last minute goal (Tracs) but the other two would have seemed very unreal. Im pretty sure it knocked the stuffing out of the dogs players because we scored two more quick ones in the first two of the last that seemed quite easy.

Im not sure why I was so worried after Bonts third and the dogs 19 point lead. I think it was that they had scored so many goals in a row and we gave up such an early break. But prior to that we certainly had plenty of shots on goal that could have been majors. We were inaccurate, where the dogs snaps (and there were a few) all went through the middle. Despite the 19 points we were at least equal in terms of shots if not more. But the dogs had a lot of luck, including the Lions games with many calls going their way. I think they must have felt a three quarter time it had all gone. On some level the Dogs must have believed we were the better team and that minute was a wake up call to the fact.

Its one thing to win a flag but to win it like that almost makes it worth the wait. But Ill take another next year,

Excerpts from the Bulldog's game days thread on bigfooty. To relive the unfolding horror through their eyes one more time ...

Bont's goal:

BONT!!!

Captain!!!

King Marcus

Pressure pressure pressure eventually it gets to everyone

thats the moment right there

Harmes to Fritsch:

Fumble by Baz unfortunately leads to that

Why did Hannan give that handball?

Felt like we were one goal away from making it bloody hard then

Fritsch again:

And just like that all the hard work is gone

For fu** sake

Ffs

Brown:

Far too easy out of the centre there

Gah

Oh for fu**s sake

What the hell are these guys doing

In three minutes we went from complete control to fighting for it again

We need to get this centre clearance! I’m sounding like a broken record. Geez that Baz fumble is now being paid for dearly

Brayshaw:

FMD Daniel

All that hard work vanishes into nothingness

We're starting to look a bit tired.

Petracca:

I am so done with English SPOIL THE DAMN BALL

That was just too good by Petracca…. He has just been killing us all game

I think we’ve found a way to turn a very good position into a pretty bad one

Reckon we’re in a spot of bother here and it’s through poor execution.

Sad to say it's over. St. Kilda in 2009 is the only team in the AFL era to lose after leading at 3QT in a GF.

5 goals in a row

How are we in this position

Sparrow:

That’s it.. done

Mids getting embarrassed. How easy can these clearances get

Cannot stop them getting it out of the centre

There goes the premiership

Yeah it's over.

Game over fellas.

Oliver:

Eesh

No way ! That’s ridiculous

WTF happened?

Can we play a defensive player in the centre square for crying out loud

Oh, my. Oh, bloody my.

What the actual fu**

The dees are walking straight through us

We can’t come back from that

Well that was a really disappointing end to the year

Was a great year, bad luck fellas

Honestly can’t believe some of those clearance efforts. In a grand final.

Wow

All over just like that..

Have we ever scored 5-6 goals that quickly ourselves? We look done.

That was bloody impressive.

He was running towards goal at a slightly wrong angle  for a right footer. He checksided the ball a bit to get it on target. If he kicked it straight it would have gone for a behind.

You've got me thinking. Which commentator (of any sport) would I like to have heard commentating on the last half of Q3? Maybe Murray Walker from F1 for excitement? or Phil Ligget for precision?

watch that over and over….

My magic moment is just a little later when Jackson plants a handball so perfectly in Oliver's grasp that he doesn't even need to change his rhythm as he runs towards goal. That is as precise a single piece of play as I have ever seen.

I've been looking for "down the ground" vision of those goals - taken from behind either goal.

Has anyone seen that around?

Great question! I was hoping by the nature of 'Every Angle' in the title of this thread, that the down the ground vision would have been part of it...alas.

Complete misnomer. The angles were the same as every other time i've watched these goals. That said, gave me an excuse watch again which i don;t mind at all.

A fascinating thing for me with those comments is how quickly their supporters seemed to concede that they were done. As early as after Trac's goal at which point we were only a couple of goals up.  I only started to relax about 4 goals into the last quarter!

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
