There were some concerns with injury and form going into the middle of the season and there was that embarrassing three week suspension incurred against the Crows but the determined, tough nut was born for finals football in the red and blue. His strength and non-negotiable hardness at the football was so important in the last month of the season.

I never understood why he copped so much criticism in the home and away season. When players return from foot injuries, it can take some time for them to get back to their best. His performance during the finals showed why the club rates him so highly. He was easily in our best 3-4 players across the entire finals series.

We're clearly a better side when he's in the team.

His post game interview on the ground was the most realisitic and insightful when he described the early disasterous years of his career as a young man.

He, more than anyone, seemed to understand just how hard its been over the last decade.

1 flag won't be enought for him I suspect.

We certainly missed Jacks hardness around the ball when he was out of the side but a fit and healthy Jack Viney is something to behold and his last 4 games were his best for the Club. He took some hits dished some out opened up the dogs for Harmes/ Fritsch goal and even hand balled to Lingers whilst undertaking a barrel roll over a fallen dog. Jacks role in the centre clearance spectacle in the third cannot be overstated. Jack is an awesome footballer and it was terrific to see him get caught up in the raw emotion of the game and totally enjoy his / their mighty achievement. 💕❤️💙

Before Jack was drafted, he said he had always wanted to play for the Melbourne football club.

We were the joke of the AFL at the time, Jack could have played for a better side, but with a great big smile he said he wanted to play for the Dee's, he was 16 years of age at the time when he said it, i was gobbed smacked.

From that moment i loved JV and what he brings to our club.

A few years ago i was lucky enough to meet him at one of our b&f he was lovely and spoke to me for a while.

I'm so glad he got to play in this years GF and come home with a win🥰

Good onya Jack you showed them.

I'm certainly guilty of being hard at Jack sometimes and I am sorry as much for thinking and saying, but I'm not too old to learn.

That two week punishment for molesting Sam Collins did wonders. For too many seasons Viney always seemed to come back from injury early and it always impacted on his ongoing form. What many saw as an injustice turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The extra rest did him well and played arguably his best footy for several years.

Our entire midfield looks stronger and plays better when Jack is at his best. At the half way point of this season I really thought he was done. But his finals campaign was immense. And on GF day, the moment he mobbed McCrae at the first bounce, I decided to pay close attention to him - his switch was turned to "attack and demolish" and he did a power of work.

So glad for him and his family. He is going to be a very focused and determined man next year, probably playing "too close to the line" like Jordan Lewis, and we will hear packs split from 100 metres away.

Jack is another player who changed his role for the betterment of the team.  It's great credit to him that he was able to go against his natural instinct to 'shoulder all of the load all of the time', and adapt his game to better complement those around him. He now forms part of the most feared mid-field combination in the competition, and was a vital cog in our Premiership.

Jack Viney is as tough as nails.

He was made to play finals football. Glad he was able to improve his kicking throughout the season too.

He definitely made his old man, former Demons great, Todd Viney proud!

I am certain Jack will definitely be hungry for more Premiership success. I cannot imagine Jack being satisfied with just one Premiership.

Plus I am sure Jack and the rest of the team want to win at least one more Premiership, but this time at the MCG!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
