Seems a bit selfish winning Rising Stars and Premierships at 20.

He was 19 when he won those, can’t stand them entitled teens these days.

I presume your daughter is a dees fan?

Just need to start a go fund me page and start him up a TInder profile (Melbourne girls only) and the rest should take care of itself.

Just make sure he has the teeth in for the Tinder profile - after all, he plays for the MFC, not Collingwood!!

My actual daughter is vaguely aware of a sport known as football and has been informed by her mother that Dad is quite pleased about it, because his team the ... the whatever they are ... won something recently.

I'm actually happy for him to go off to Freeo. Gladly except 5 first rounders in '22, 3 in '23 and 1 in '24 for him.

I wouldn't😉

Greedy bugger isn’t he. Next he will have a Brownlow

Wouldn’t be surprised if he told Max during the post flag celebrations that he is now 2nd ruck

I think Luke is young man who in his 2 seasons has achieve only what other players could dream off, listening to some interviews he does not come across as a player with tickets on himself.

He sounds level headed and when thrown into the deep end lifts his game rather than drowning in expectation these are characteristics that make a champion compare his 30 game career to Jack Watts who basically was thrown to the wolves and drowned in the expectation.

Yep, I think his nature is summed up by his reaction to loosing a tooth.....have a laugh with the team-mates, take the [censored] out of yourself in the media and then just get on with it

minimum fuss/drama

We need to cling to this bloke like stink on a monkey.

Maxy is a club legend and easily in the top ten players in our history. However, I'd give him 4 years max (see what I did there?).

Dogga, at the trajectory he is on, will be All Australian caliber himself by the time he walks into the first ruck spot.

Get this done!

Absolutely! Also having Jackson enables Max to make his career longer. Max has greatly improved his resting forward game this year and with Jacko spending more time in the ruck over the next few years it should enable Max more durability playing 70% ruck 30% forward or 60-40 in a couple of years rather than if he is getting beat up in the ruck near 90% game time.
Must sign him.

We can’t just sign up the old players. I don’t want to end up like Geelong

Luke Jackson is a once in a Generation type player, never have i seen a Ruckman at such a young age or any age for that matter take a game away from a side in such a short space of time.

Just like in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls if you wanted a ring you had to come through Chicago the same applies with the AFL.

If you want a medallon your neck your gonna have to come through Melbourne to get one and you'll have to have one hell of a Ruck combination to beat our dynamic duo.

The club have to be reasonable but sensible at the same time, play this right and he could be one of the great of the Club and the game.

Statue outside of the G type player we have on our hands right next to his partner in crime Sir Maximus.

It’s amazing how many once in a generation players come along each generation 😉

…sorry, I couldn’t resist, I’ll show myself out

How things have changed.

I’ve been reading loops like this for the past 20 or so years during which I’ve generally experienced feelings of extreme nausea and have suffered the cold sweats, all the while desperately searching for any wholly unreliable and unsubstantiated (and most likely completely fabricated) rumour which tended to suggest that the player in question didn’t hate the club and would possibly re-commit to the joint for another 6-12 months.

I now read these loops with the calmness of a Tibetan monk. We will re-sign everyone we want to re-sign, on commercially appropriate terms - even if clubs such as Geelong or Hawthorn are in the hunt for that player and have offered them a $1m a year contract for 25 years.

Isaac Smith must be kicking himself, as I expect would his wife and kids. Turned down a 3 year deal with us, to instead accept a 2 year deal with an arrogant club possessing an inferior and ageing list and, in doing so, relocate his entire family to a very different postcode.

We’re not that club anymore.

I hope to read in the coming days that Luke and the club have agreed to a 10 year contract extension. God bless us all heh.

Petracca, Oliver, Gawn and Jackson. All once in a generation type players, all in the same team at the same time, and they’re playing for us!

Not a bad spot over that side of the bay.
Better than the other.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
