Happy with this one. There is not a lot of depth in our key forward positions behind Brown & McDonald, and I'm assuming he still comes reasonably cheap.

Me too, he took some strong grabs and played well in the Sat night game sim at Lathlain.

Weid and Brown signing on, assume we've moved on from Jack Gunston?

I look forward to seeing him at Casey.

Good news. Mitch is a great cover for our current champs. Never got a chance to push his way into senior team due to morons Virus and injury. Very useful cover indeed.

Good decision.

After kicking 19 and 21 goals in the last 2 games probably have....

I don't mind this.

He isn't an answer to any pressing issue we have. We need 'break glass in case of emergency' players and Majak and him fit into that category nicely.

Good, he was very useful in his only game. Can impact and play a role.

Good insurance, handy player is Mitch Brown.

Whose left that is OOC?

Majak?

Very happy with this .. still a place for him when inevitably resting players or injuries. Now please sign MAJAK for extra Insurance who it must be said played some excellent footy at Casey!

Usually has an impact when he gets a chance in the senior team (which isn’t often), good decision

Agree to keep Mitch for another year.  Break glass in case of emergency.

Clearly we don’t see any other key position players available through draft , trade or free agency.

I find this one to be strange.

The club clearly has a better idea of what’s going on than I do, but I would have thought both AVB and Lockhart were both closer to senior selection than Brown.  Lockhart especially as small defenders is not an area of great depth for us.

He must be an excellent trainer and presence around the club, but I would have hoped we’d be looking to bring in a young KPF at the draft and have B Brown, McDonald and Weideman, along with Fritsch and Jackson as our primary KPF stocks.

Good luck to him!

Handy backup, undoubtedly on a cheap 1-year contract. Let's not forget that he got 2 Brownlow votes in his 2nd most recent game! That's the same amount of Brownlow votes that Angus Brayshaw, Christian Salem, Ed Langdon, Ben Brown, James Harmes, Alex Neal-Bullen, Michael Hibberd, Charlie Spargo, Jayden Hunt, Adam Tomlinson, Tom Sparrow, Trent Rivers, James Jordon, Jake Melksham, and Nathan Jones have received combined since the start of 2020! 😮

What exactly is a cheap 1 year deal worth anyone know? No doubt it would feature Basic wages with match payments for games played! Anyone know how it works???

These are Flag Window wide open type moves.

Boring as F.

Love it.

We are already 7 players down with delisting and retirements plus milkshake.

if we have 6-7 injuries next year we need to make we are covered with senior players. Good move on Mitch and Majak

For a good part of the season I thought Mitch might be a better option than Weeds and Benny. Before the VFL was shut down he played a ripper game and it really put the pressure on. Glad he's got another year.

We now have what we once lacked, solid depth with Hunt, Weid, Bedford, Baker, Chandler, Laurie, Rosman, Turner, De Classe, Daw & Brown we can cover all area’s on the ground for our next crack at the Granny.

Agree with everyone’s sentiments here. It’s great to see a bloke who gives his all being rewarded accordingly. Well done Mitch and MFC

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
