Just announced…

Just been announced. We love Nev ❤❤ go down as an absolute legend of this football club.

Imagine this flag with Nev and Jones in the side. I don't think I could have contained myself, and that says it all.

I thought Wrecker was great, but peak Nev was the best small defender in my time.

Damn. Class act on and off the field. Hope he stays involved in some fashion. Absolutely tenacious footballer that I loved watching. Best of luck for the future, Nev.

Thank you Nev. A wonderful team player and a great example for young players.

Loved the way you played the game and the way you handled yourself off the ground.

Again, thank you.

Lord Nev, an absolute star of this football club and proudly my favourite player of the last 5 years. outstanding loyal servant who got absolutely everything out of himself and put his body on the line week in week out. what a leader and role model. all the best to our No. 39 games record holder

One of my all time favorites.
Held us together down back for years with sheer determination and some shoulder tape.
As brave as they come. As loyal as they come. An exemplary human being on and off the field. Did so much for so many, including Kosi and countless indigenous players before him.
A great of our club and a massive part of this success.

  • Demonland changed the title to Farewell Neville Jetta

159 games and never a backwards step, a warrior for this club and a favourite amongst the faithful.
Best of luck in the future Nev.

Is anyone doing welfare watch on Saty? 😯

Being serious, Nev was as honest as the day was long, resilient, reliable and loyal. It should be remembered that he was a bit lost until the end of ‘13 with no real position to call his own. When Roosy came in ‘14, he nailed that small lockdown defender position down to the point where he was holding blokes like Eddie Betts to one or two goals.

Like Nate, it would have been perfect to see him play in a flag winning team but fairytales rarely happen not only in footy, but life. Nonetheless, Nev should be remembered as a great club man who will always be associated with our club and welcome back anytime.👏

Sad day, will always be a legend of the club.

Nev 2.0, was 10 times the player of Nev prior to his delisting/re-rookie-Ing.

An absolute testament to his will and determination.

In his prime, Nev was arguably one of our greatest ever small backs. Enjoy retirement you champion.

Absolute legend of our great club and absolutely instrumental in pushing indigenous awareness to forefront. Really hope he stays at the club in some capacity, but I wonder if he and his family will move back to WA? Either way, I hope he can continue his immense work as an indigenous mentor and leader.

Has he retired or just finished at Melbourne.  The wording in the clubs post and his wifes post make mention of his time at mfc coming to an end not his time on the AFL.

Lord Nev. Thankyou

you gave everything to the Club on and off the field

Welcome back anytime. All careers come to an end. You gave it your all.
Celebrate with your Premiership mates. You deserve that

Took time to come good but Roos seemed to be huge influence on him developing into probably the best small defender in the comp. between 2015 and 2019. Tough, courageous, team-orientated. Hope he is able to stay around the club in some capacity.

The MFC would not be in the position it is today, without Nev.

He played a huge part in forging the culture we currently have.

Thank you Nev

Absolutely love Nev, probably my favourite player this century until now.

Thanks Nev, your never say die attitude and wonderful leadership is one of the reasons our club has turned around and broken the curse.

champion!

I'll always remember that massive defensive stop against Carlton a couple of years back which won us that game, and what about that massive hip and shoulder on tom mitchell in the 2018 semi-final.

Jonesy, the delistings and now Nev leaving as well is all honestly quite sad, hopefully him and jonesy can both still play a role at the club if they want to.

Please Please please employ him as development coach/ mentor for new young players

Thanks for everything you did Neville Jetta - on and off the field. A Leader of men.

Thanks Nev, will never forgot your AA season in 2018 and contribution to the club, Enjoy the next chapter of your life.

He was one of my favourite players. He was easily the best small defender in the competition during his peak years (2017-2018). He was one of the most brave and loyal players we'll ever see and his field kicking was elite.

Jetta and Jones retiring in the same year feels like the end of an era.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
