I dread the thought of having to listen to BT and JB in the biggest game in 21 years.

Does anyone have any tips on how to synch the Broadcast on TV to the radio, digital or otherwise?  I'm thinking SEN with Gerard and Huddo.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

SEN app is generally about 30 seconds delayed from live. If you have the ability to pause live tv (either via kayo, foxtel etc) I'd be pausing your live tv for 30 seconds and getting it into sync with the broadcast via the SEN app

This is what I would normally do throughout the year but the Grand Final is only broadcast on Ch 7 and 7 HD. Can these channels be paused?

Honestly If anyone tried to start doing this just before this match, either I or they would go. Might be ugly.

It's Dennis John Cometti's last call for Triple M. Having that sync'd would be the only way to go IMHO.

If you have a digital TV or digi set top box like Foxtel IQ3 that the FTA signal comes through then yes you can pause and restart.

True I had forgotten about that. Another option could be to chromecast from the 7+ app, pause it from there and then sync it to SEN...

It would be good for Ch7 to have BT and JB on one channel and Jason Bennett/Hamish on the other channel.  Let the people vote.

Can someone clarify if Foxtel will carry the Ch7 broadcast or do I actually have to watch Ch 7?

I wondered that too. Probably same vision, but I wonder if its different commentary on Foxtel???

You are stuck watching channel 7

Another option . . . sound down with Roy and HG on while regularly checking the Demonland game day thread. Most 'Landers know more about the game than channel 7, so you get to have a laugh and not go insane listening to the Salad Dodger and James Notsoshaw.

You're stuck with CH 7 adds.

Last year Fox Footy showed footage of an empty studio for 3 hours.

Am going to be watching on a small delay so that the app can buffer at a HD resolution, not a sure thing here in Sudan, makes sense to try and take advantage of MMM or SEN. It is resisting the temptation to check real time scores that is hard. Thanks for good suggestions.

Not sure where to put this question but here is as good as any.

There were a few of us that couldn’t watch The Brownlow as it wasn’t streamed they 7+ . Many assured we will be able to watch the GF if you had 7+ and Apple TV device but should we be concerned if it still doesn’t come up in a search on the app??

Worried!

The picture quality on Ch 7 is crud, let alone the aural offence of BT and JB.

Is there anyway to get HD Ch 7 on Poxtel? I can't get digital and the only way to torture yourself with Ch7 is via Poxtel. For what ever reason, the picture quality is rubbish! I'd be tempted to drag out the B & W with bunny ears if I still had one. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Then I can venture into the abyss of intelligent commentary.

If the Brownlow telecast and the ch 7 information is anything to go by, this will not work.  Only 7+ apps on certain TVs etc will work.  Android phones/tablets won't work.

Will the 7mate app have it? If so, on a smart TV, maybe do that plus radio.
my Sony Bravia i think will stream it via 7mate so that might work for some if you have a smart TV (to be fair I just go my first one - first new TV since 2008!)

I have 7HD through the Optus NBN set top box (can’t remember it’s name and can’t be bothered getting up to check)* so can pause TV to synch with 3AW or SEN.
Usually I prefer to run Kayo through the smart TV mainly to skip the ad breaks after every goal, but isn’t the GF only on 7, which means bloody ad breaks all the time (hopefully 30 times, for each of our goals!).

That is the 7 mate app which is channel 7’s digital streaming solution ( what Kayo is to Foxtel). Usually digital streaming rights and terrestrial (free to air) broadcasting rights are split up, but it appears as though ch7 has both.

Might want to see if you can pause n play live TV on 7 mate and not leave it to GF day.

I thought the Prelim team did a great job at commentating (bennett, Mclachlan, Leppitsch etc). I'm usually yelling at the tv to tell the commentators to just  shut up ! a lot of the time but enjoyed the prelim commentary.  My wife came in and asked who had commentated and I couldnt tell her, so I thought that if they hadnt annoyed me for the whole game they must have done ok.  BT or Eddie are nauseating.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
