Amazing win,  I think Smith comes out,  he looked to get in lever and May's way a bit.

Maybe for Jordon or Hibbo

Sadly I think TMac is done

I tend to agree, though he does sometimes pull something out of the bag.  Who would replace him - Weed?

I'd go smaller. Melksham or Jordan (I prefer Melksham)

I think we've played out best footy with 2 talls

Hibbo or Jordon for Joel Smith

It's too early to call because of the raw emotion. Fingers crossed no surprise injuries.

Assuming we're all fit, I'd look at bringing Hibberd back for Smith (cost us early goals and provided no real oomph whereas Hibberd I think would).

TMac stays. Doesn't get dropped after one game back. Structure is important and we need forward half options against Brisbane's tall defence.

I would leave the side alone but have a qiuet word in Mr McDonalds and Fritters ear.

Any chance at all of the MRP finding issue with Lever in Q1?

You can probably guarantee it! A fine at most I’d think (hope).

McDonald was super rusty but I'm sure the hope is he builds back up, we can't trust Melksham and we don't really have any other forward options.

The only way he'd come out would be if Petracca plays forward more (and maybe Harmes too) and I think we saw that earlier in the year as not always working out. Petracca had a much better second half playing forward tonight but generally we need him on ball.

I still prefer JJ than Sparrow as a midfielder, which means Harmes doesn't have to spell on the wing. But Sparrow seems more effective as a half forward. So I'm not sure they change that one.

Which really only leaves Smith for Hibberd. I can see why they went Smith tonight. He can match Rohan and Dangerfield for pace and switch on to Cameron at times. Handy when Lever doesn't have a match up.

But I think against the Lions it's Hibberd in for Cameron. The only other option might be Rivers on Cameron and Smith or Hibberd on to McCarthy. I don't think you can back Smith in to play on Charlie. If Hibbo gets beat for pace he gets beat for pace, better than getting caught out like Smith will.

What was the incident? Time stamp?

Joel Smith is still leaky for me.

I'd have Hibberd come in to do the lock down job on Cameron.

He has been written off before and bounced back. His first half was dreadful but second there was some improvement.

That win will give the whole team a lift including TMac. I'm backing him in to regain his form v Brisbane

Hibbo is 98% cooked but still want him in over Smith.

Not sure Sparrow thrives under the heat. JJ seems to be the cooler head.

Sparrow can go missing but he’s surprisingly strong overhead. I liked the balance of our team tonight and think we’ll need the extra tall against Brisbane’s defence.

Sparrow did good (aside from kicking it into the man on the mark twice). Tmac needs to be told if he doesnt kick atleast 3 goals hes getting "the jab"

Sparrow has a good mark on him and a bit of pace. Reckon we'll see some serious gains next year and cement a spot in the 22.

The reversal free on Dahlhaus.

Was silly from Jake but even Lever couldn't work out what he was trying to do. Held him down across the top of the chest/chin with one arm and then attempted some half baked punch to the ribs with the other. I doubt they even come up with a fine for that given how poorly executed it was, but that's surely the most it would be.

Does anyone know how far away Hunt is? I would like to see him back in the line up. Also I think Hibbo should come back in.

As good as Bowey is and will be I think he might get exploited defensively, so maybe Bowey and Smith go out for Hibbo and hopefully Hunt.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.
