We completely dominated Port in Adelaide only a handful of weeks back. Off the top my head, Goody has maybe a 5-2 record at Adelaide Oval (with those two narrow losses absolute robberies by the umps - which I know is counter to my pep-talk, but still). I'm not sure why some you folk have the fear. I reckon the boys would relish playing in front of a crowd again.

They had a few out that night.

We were full strength.

There was no chance we weren't going to be on that list.

Why on earth is Hannan rucking when they have English and Young?

Because  of quite appalling coaching. He decides not to play Stef Martin or Schache, plays a novice, Young as first ruck, and leaves English forward almost all night . Got smashed in the middle, hardly any inside 50s

and it was a disastrous result for Melbourne . If we lose tomorrow night our season could be over on Saturday fortnight, if Footscray had won we would have finished first or second and had an easy run

Just announced only would be 50% crowds in Adelaide next weekend. If we play Port in Adelaide the crowd won't be a factor at all!

It will when 93% of those are Port supporters.

Georgiadis out helps

He was the most dangerous forward against us, but Robbie Gray likes to turn it on against us, so I'd prefer Gelrgiadis instead of Gray.

Ah well. If we play as well as we can, no side will come close to us IMO. Just have to kick straight.

Duursma & Butters a fair bit underdone still I think.

If we expect to be premiers, we have to be able to win games against the best. It seems you’ve already decided we’ve lost tomorrow against Geelong. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve watched bits and pieces of the Dogs games the last two weeks, and one thing I noticed is that they didn’t seem to be getting a helping hand from the umpires like they did in the game against us. And it makes a big difference.

Today, for example, the free kick count was 23-15 in favour of Port. And last week it was 14-11 in favour of the Hawks. Our game was 25-11 to them!

Perhaps the umpires have noticed the talk about their huge free kick advantage and are trying to balance it out (a little) before season ends.

They’re other reasons why they’re down and losing, but I think this has contributed.

I can’t believe I’m typing this, it may be the lockdown getting to me, but I’d prefer to play Port in Adelaide. Whatever tickets we have we should offer to Crows supporters. Get Goodwin to rally them against the Power. They hate the Power more than they hate Victorians. It’d be a real spectacle to pull that off

I’ve got no issue playing Port over there as the away team. This year has clearly shown us that we play our best footy when there’s a challenge put in front of us.

Pies and Hawks and Crows were not a challenge at face value and looked how those games turned out.

The last time we played at a genuine neutral venue it was against Collingwood and we were as a flat as a pancake.

Destiny is still 100% in our hands for the rest of the season. Tick.

An extra point in either the Crows or Hawks games would’ve been handy though.

Well the 1960 result finished. ok. Held Colonwood to 2 goals in the GF and video review had it existed would have disallowed one of those clearly marked in from of the line by Len Mann (?34) according to a photo in the Sun.

Bulldogs were appalling tonight

Smith and Naughton might think they are the greatest players God ever shoveled guts into! Plus Hannan in the ruck, terrible move.

Doesn't matter what happens tomorrow with next week. So we play Port in Adelaide if we lose and most likely Brisbane in Adelaide if we win. I'm not sure one scenario is more scary than the other. Port have been involved in something like 6 games with results being within two goals and won every single one of them. If luck went against them and they lost a few, they'd have been vying to just make the 8.

We have beaten both teams this season, both away from home.

We have lost 4.5 games this season. In every single one of them, we were still in the game with less than 10 minutes to go. We have been the best team this season and by quite some distance, we have a very healthy list such that we've been able to drop Hibbo and Milkshake. Just stick to our game plan, be discipline and keep the intensity up, and we will be fine.

Sesnsible summary I reckpm NS.

I am also looking at the positive from last night and that is if we lose tonight we play Port in Week 1, then importantly not again unless we both make the GF.

Any prelim we make WILL not be against Port at their home ground.

The same applies if we win tonight. We won't then meet Port in a prelim at Adelaide. We will get the option of ground selection

We will overall avoid the only team with a huge home ground opportunity until a GF and that will be in Perth anyway.

Don't agree.  Our biggest threat is meeting Port in a knockout final in Adelaise.  That most likely dissappearde as a scenario last night no matter what happens.
