Can’t wait for him to snap a goal so we can say - the Ginger Nut Snaps!

He did, in round 1.  It was awesome how the team got around him.

I was going to start a new thread on this but I’ll just chuck a comment in here about it.

I’m actually fine with the media/AFL spotlight being on other teams and players almost all the time ESPECIALLY when we are the team to beat.

I’d rather we fly under the radar and win the only thing that really counts for players: Premierships.

I’d rather a Daicos get attention than Bowie for example, just let him do his thing without extra attention.

However this might just be a reflection of me as a life long (36 years) dees supporter that’s easily spooked the year after finally winning a flag.

Am I being overly paranoid about the bad effects lots of attention can do to a team? Is recognition better than being ignored for player/team confidence?

Well done JB. Outstanding game considering the amount of experience we were missing in defence.
he is playing a senior role after 9 games…

Wasn’t a snap though, Lucifer 😉

I don’t disagree in general, but I see Bowser as very grounded and unlikely to get a big head so very happy for him to receive all the plaudits he richly deserves.

Wow, 9 games for 9 wins, two rising star nominations and a premiership!

Gotta be some sort of record

Congratulations Jake Bowey that was a sensational effort that you put in Saturday night and it is great that you have been recognised with your second Rising Star nomination.!!!

He has elite skills and decision making. It is so stark atm with our backline minus Lever, Petty, and Salem.

From 'stop-gap', to Premiership player, to star player in a few months.  Unprecedented!

Bloody Hell, he's still just a kid!

I think it is all a bit of hype, just because of how much he looks like the perfect modern prototype footballer.

If he ever gets injured we are stuffed. No Bowey no Melbourne.

Getting to the point that is not a joke anymore, so critical with Salem and Lever out.

thought that was a drop punt? the snap is critical to my pun

agree it was great to see the team bond

Two rising star nominations and a premiership medallion in 9 games.

With an award every three games, it's quite possible he'll win the brownlow three times this year, the coleman medal, the norm smith and the rising star.

Agree and watching the highlights of him is really quick off the first 5 steps. creates space so easily

A joy to watch. Add him to the list of 2 who you completely relax when they have the ball (Sales and Bowey)

About time too....

I mean this bloke has 9 whole AFL games to his name. AND he only had 1 rising star  nomination, never lost a game and has a premiership to his name.... Liike seriously at what point is he going to get some success....  :roos:

Wow! Well done Jake Bowey!

9 games and 9 wins so far. His calmness under pressure and his foot skills as well as his decision making is a pleasure to watch.

He also has 2 NAB Rising Star nominations now and a 2021 AFL Premiership medallion to go with it!

The most exciting thing is he will continue to get better and better as a footballer as he gains more AFL experience.

Bluey Bowser has been fantastic for the Melbourne Demons so far! However, we definitely shouldn't forsake the profound impact (my favourite) Mark "Choco" Williams has had in developing these young players at the Melbourne Demons.

and don't forget, another Premiership..... and Coaches Award for the best player as well as the  The Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Trophy

Hate to put the Mozz on him but a win on the weekend makes him the most undefeated player ever. (Plus a flag, and the list of awards previously mentioned in this thread). Unfortunately this  cant last forever!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
