All of that post-hoc world salad could equally be used to describe a sling tackle the likes of which would see an ANB or similar being handed a 4 week holiday.

Hawkins laid his tackle from behind, driving the player forwards with his hands pinned to his sides so he could not protect impact of his head with the ground. Hawkins made ZERO attempt to lessen the impact. As is his modus operandi, he showed f-all duty of care to the opposition player.

Hibberd was not fanatastic today but I didn't see anything wrong with his game.

If TMac is to come in could it be Melksham out or is it Jordon.

May for Smith and Viney for Sparrow are almost certainties.

Hibberd fell over so often I thought he looked weird when standing up.

To me, He looked off the pace badly.

[censored] garbage decision

Yes garbage, and yes inevitable knowing the utter hypocrisy of AFL HQ.

Pinned arms, head hits ground … all ok for 🐈‍⬛

Goodwin in his presser confirmed that May, TMac an Viney will play. He also mentioned Jones playing well in the Casey game ? Significance.

In: May TMac Viney  Jones

Out: Melksham Sparrow Smith Jordon.

Hang on Chook. He also said Weid played well kicking 4 or 5. Take what he says with a grain of salt.

Not Jones, rather leave Smith in or bring in Weed as back up

Just put Brayshaw in the middle for a bit - he's a natural midfielder, and I know he's been doing a great job defensively on that wing, but I reckon he'd be better in the middle than Harmes/Sparrow combined. Who goes on the wing? Harmes? Viney?

I think we rate that wing role as super important to our game plan. I can't see us experimenting after finally locking down two functional wings.

Hibbo is the best replacement for Hunt we have. He has loads of experience. Good pace. Can do good lockdown roles when required. He is certainly the best option until Hunt is back.

Without Hunt, Hibberd is the only one that doesn’t go right back in that shell that we all came out of, when the game is tight and we ain’t doing much.

Added to that Lynch had 29 possies, the second highest of all players on the ground.

So Hawkins not even charged. How the [censored] does that happen. How can anyone think something sinister is not going on. What an absolute [censored] up.

I think it's a tough one.

It's similar but nowhere near as brutal as this which received 1 week in 2018:

Natanui dumps Amon

What should Hawkins have done? He's running at full speed then has to lay a tackle. There was no second motion.

I'd be furious if one of our players was suspended for that.

If Hawkins got rubbed out for that then the AFL is a joke nothing in it pure football accident.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
