I don't post much on gameday threads. Wow you're a negative bunch!

A lot of people don't seem to understand that after the match starts this topic is as much about expressing frustration at the poor play as applauding the good.

Imagine if Clarry cleaned up his goal kicking, both set shots and on the run! With his talent level it’s hard to fathom why he misses and often by a long way.

Think everyone is getting a bit carried away. The boys would be knackered, again had to isolate this week after the GC fiasco and then quarantine in Perth. They would be physically and mentally wrecked, just need the 4 points and I don’t care how. It’s another north at Blundstone game.

Clarry is a great footballer in the heat of the battle, amazing reflexes,  however give him time to think and he stuffs up. Thinking without pressure is not his strong suit

And he'd jhave locked the 3 (or 2 due to Seedsman) brownlow votes today...

Joel Smith being a late in and randomly playing the best game of his career is exactly the kind of thing that would happen against us in years gone by. I’m starting to believe.

jaisus....how many marks have we dropped?

Gawn and Jackson. Only 1 mark between them.

Are we just exhausted? Because these sloppy skills are a big worry.

I would think yes, given the events of the last fortnight.

This would be the textbook “flat week” if ever there’s one.

In the end it’s why separates Bont from Trac and Oliver. Hate to say it but they are both average kicks.

I do like the darts coming from Bowey and Salem off HB though. I look forward  to that part of our game blossoming in the coming years.

Cudos to Joel Smith- has done well. Pleased for him

He’s playing to his strong suits, keeping separation and the using his athleticism to nullify contests or his leap to take some grabs.

What does Angus Brayshaw add to our team?

A bit like Adelaide’s let down after their biggest game of the year. Oh, hang on…..

Percentage is still matters, what if we had a draw with jeelong and Port smashed Dogs next week?

Plays on the quiet wing and runs all day to allow Langdon to dominate

Kudos to the coaching team. Looks like they've turned Smith into solid defensive depth

Yeah nah not buying that

So many excuses for this guy.

They're taking it easy and winning by 22 points.

Just get the win and no injuries and I'll be happy.

Then we still finish 2nd and get a home final. 1 or 2 is the key.

Two way running, courage in the air, smart ball use (though at times this goes missing), and he's very important culturally to the players.

Aside from that, nothing.

J Smith playing his role so far. Hope he keeps it up.

Not sure why should be any more tired than any other team. Adelaide played a showdown last weekend

So we play last game Geelong MCG??!!!!

..fixture rd 23 was just on screen..

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
