They'll have to move Schache up there where he's even worse than as a defender.

Would be a fair effort by Essendon to finish on top from here.

Note that I edited it almost immediately… you must have jumped on it almost as soon as the post landed 😂🤣

That is a massive blow for them. Suddenly it’s down to Naughton to carry the forwardline. He’s an excellent forward but that’s a lot of pressure against the best defenses come finals.

The cats biggest problem is they are too old. they won't have the legs for a finals campaign

No wonder Scott  keeps going on about shorter quarters

In terms of the finals race, us winning tomorrow opens up the Eagles to the chasing pack. HQ would love 6 teams to be fighting for 2 spots than 5 fighting for one. The top 4 being separated by half a game and the Round 23 fixture just adds to it.

I think I'll wind down for the night now Megatron. This game in the west is giving me nothing to work with. Good luck in the NFC North this year btw.

It's a huge loss for them. After today's game he had 48 goals to his name. You can't replace quality overnight.

They'll have to reshuffle their forward line. Whether that's bringing Sweet in to ruck, and then throw English forward.

Bruce out now mean Marra gets 2nd best defender. Huge task coming up to finals..

They are dropping like flies after a long season with full length games.
But if they can pull off an injury free run from here on in they can absolutely win it. They don’t have anymore travel now either which really helps.
They are mature and experienced and that always helps in finals. They know how to win it. The closest we got with this squad is a smashing in a Prelim.

Watch all the cats fans complain about the injuries and blame them for any dips in form, completely ignoring the fact their footy department made that choice to back in their ageing list.

I don't care what anyone says, he's brilliant on the outside, but has no defensive game at all does Bontempelli. 0 tackles. If he gets votes in that game it's a joke.

How bloody wonderful was it to see that mob beaten? Another test, another failure.

If the Bulldogs aren't winning clearance, they can't win games. They can't even generate inside 50s. Their style won't hold up in finals unless they pull 2 or 3 performances out of their arses. Can't see it. The flag is ours to lose from here.

He's a great attacking player when its all his way doesn't chase down like Clarry and Trac, down hill skier if you will.

I feel very sorry for Josh Bruce. Siren goes 2 seconds earlier and he’s about to play finals and in the hunt for a Coleman. For a much maligned player he’s had a great year.

Those losses to teams outside the 8 are really starting to haunt us.

This is simultaneously a sarcastic comment noting the Dogs' and Geelong's losses, and truthful.

Don't forget Port is near certain to finish top 4 despite having a 2-5 record against the top 8.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
