Getting better looks at goal but we’re also taking a much more relaxed approach to set shots and giving them the best chance to go through. If we’re missing them they aren’t missing by much eg Clarry’s poster on tight angle.
BBB has stopped moving the ball around in his run up, I think they’ve definitely gone back to basics in this area.

From now on all Melbourne players have to spend 8 hrs on a plane before each game..

Perth is only a 4 hour flight away….

Jones would actually be better than Viney at this point. Smarter with the ball and seems to be more adaptable.

did you watch yesterday's vfl game. jonesy's decision making was very ordinary

Viney still has no idea. Doesn’t kick when he needs to, tries to take everyone on and gets caught holding the ball. In the bottom 2-4 players in the team.

Probably not as noticeable, but AnB playing very well.

Feel quite bad for Viney. He seems so out of place in this team. Doesn't seem to be "one of the boys" and tries to do too much.

Dont feel too bad. He has 4 years left on his contract for us to enjoy.  Imagine having that money available to go chase a quality ball user.

What a difference a dry deck makes.

Doing it easily essentially without Kozzie, Viney Sparrow and Harmes. Jones and Vanders back in for the Eagles games.

Be disappointing if we drop off now.

A quarter is a long time. Some of these posts by our “supporters” have not aged well.

1. Mental Midgets

2. We are XXXX average

3. Jack Viney has no weapons

4. Choking vs Suns

5. This game has disaster written all over it

6. Upset loomimg

7. Fair dinkum. Played Suns back into form.

8. Our defence is xxxxhouse

9. Where a very ordinary football side

We will be third on the ladder tonight. Touch wood we have no injuries and I have no doubt we have lost games by loading and focusing on the finals big picture than individual wins. We are within touching distance of guaranteed home finals and double chance. Let Dogs and Cats hog the limelight this is our best chance since 64 to win a flag. As Oscar Wilde would say rumours of our demise are greatly exaggerated. Go Dees

Yeah   might be time for a spell  maybe bring the jones boy back for a few games. How is he going in the twos.   NO one can question Vineys commitment and courage but just not working for him and team  since he came back...  and I love the bloke

I’d have JJ in. We need to build his ball use and decision making long term. Could be the missing piece.

For me I think this is Viney trying to find form. He has been injured and not in the team also trying to find match fitness. What a good opportunity to try and find some of that touch. He is getting the ball and once that confidence comes back he will be the bull he was again!

Hes seems down on pace too so Im not sure hes fully fit yet.

Should see if Geelong are still keen on Viney. Worth asking the question

Gee you get off someone quick. He is the vice captain he is not going anywhere.

He can find touch in the VFL like everyone else. I dunno why he gets special treatment. He’s been trash since coming back. Yet Hibbo gets dropped after a stellar year and two poor games.

Agree with most things said about Viney. He’s standing out in our midfield right now and not in a good way. I’d love to think it’s just about shaking the ring rust but how games back do you give a guy? Maybe the fast deck at Marvel just isn’t going to be the game for him.

Go Viney!

Jack takes first option, we end up with a shot for goal. Maybe someone finally got into his ear at HT.

Yep but someone needs to tell him that most AFL players now days are as strong as him and to stop trying to run through packs. Please just give the first option. Harmes also needs to be told this.

2nd nice short kick to a lead by Viney. He's trying to fight his instincts and if he can keep doing that it will help us massively.

I know we are 10 goals up but Brown and Max are held CONSISTENTLY and free kick never called.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
