Another ugly win would have covered the cracks again, you cannot pick and choose when to go in this league.

personnel changes is required, our midget forward line isn’t working, our star midfield aren’t hard enough when required.

changes next week and a brutal [censored] review Goodwin

[censored] I’m annoyed!! At that pathetic effort.

As much as I love him, Hunt reminds me of Frost sometimes… incredible speed and gains a lot of metres but has the footy IQ of a goldfish

People will pick on Hunt but FMD there are 18 players out there who did SFA today. At least Hunt tried to do something.

-15 In clearances

More scoring shots. More inside 50s. More contested possessions. One less free kick.

This is all on the midfield and [censored] kicking for goal, again

Sadly this is going to prove to be the game that costs us Top 4. We'll drop to 5th when Port beat us. Still have West Coast in Perth and Geelong in the Cattery after that. [censored]. This is a slightly modified 2017 all over again.

BBB would have easily been able to milk a couple of frees or take a couple of marks on the lead and that's the difference right there, but the arrogance of Goodwin has cost us big time.

Oh well who wants to finish top 4 anyway.
Our midfield should be ashamed of that performance. Viney has to get dropped. He’s a liability. Pickett likewise.

agree. pickett was a total passenger and has been fr weeks now. vineys kicking was just horrible and yes, was a liability today.

Gone 3/6 now , can’t see this team having what it takes to win the flag , they’re brittle , that game was there for the taking

Been unraveling for a while.. Hollywood handballs and tackles that don’t stick! Will cost you games every time. Need 2-3 players out after that performance.

We've shown glimspes of it if games for a month or so, but today we delivered 4 quarters of soft football. We even looked scared of contact, panic handballing dumb little passes to someone 30cm away.

Clearances 39 to 24. Tell me again how we don't need to worry about them.

We desperately needed another kpf.  I hope BBB kills it for Casey.

I knew this would happen. GWS are a backs against the wall side and we gave them a sniff early and they went on with it.

Lost it at match committee not picking BBB.

Out forward line as impotent as a 90 year old bloke reaching for the Viagra.

Obviously we lost by 50 points !!!

Had our chances in the last 5 minutes but stuffed up the forward entries. Hunt had three brain fades in a row!

Probably from trying to do the right thing, but I agree

Let face it we have all expected the wheel to fall off. They brought no intensity and the decision making was appalling. Got what they deserved. 50 years of rubbish should have known better than expect more

Sad thing is Hunt gave more in the last quarter up forward  than Spargo, Pickett and ANB did the whole game and he gets pinned 3 times. Back yourself mate and have a shot at the end.

Put that one down to Petracca, Hunt and Selection Panel.

For the 2nd week in row Petracca absolutely disgusting by foot inside 50.  Butchered multiple easy chances to deliver the most basic of kicks.  <50% DE again...

Hunt, absolute momentum killing last quarter.  All the praise we've given him for playing such a more composed, mature role this year slowing down hitting the right target and taking the first option - gone in a matter of 3 awful game losing blunders holding the ball.

All the old habits are back, and the same inept forward setup.

Lost at the selection table. Why play Sparrow if you don't trust him with 55% game time. Surely Brown plays next week?

Pickett and Spargo look woefully out of form at the moment. Witches hats in forward 50

Club culture, we are a brittle club that get so far ahead of ourselves.  We have achieved nothing, stop accepting mediocrity.

Easy up guys! Last quarter showed if we bring our pressure, get lots of free uncontested possession through the middle and have extra numbers streaming into fifty we can convert into goals and a big score. Oh wait.

This is why top teams have a key forward who stays at home. So players like Petracca, Viney, Hunt and Oliver who are below average kicks and decision makers by foot dont have to think too much.

Those of us old enough have been expecting this to come, and on queue here it is.

Youngsters, we are 3 and 3 in our past 6. Get ready for a rapid drop down the ladder now. It's as sure as Toby Greens head is large.

Gobsmacking lack of composure from so many players today. Neal Bullen, Hunt and Hibberd with zero spatial and situational awareness.

The poor bastards in the back 6 must be pulling their hair out at the dumb turnovers upfield.

Did Kosy play today? Don't recall seeing him. Worrying form dip over the past few weeks.

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
