That is rubbish. Why do we deserve a 5 day break and why do Essendon get a Friday night game?

Exactly, what an absolute joke we should be Friday night, we are game of the round. Essendon really give me the [censored].

50% for the Crows v Lions no word on Crowd size for Thursday Night. I would say without any knowledge that it should be at least 75% if not 100%.

I see no reason why it wouldnt be 100% with no community transmissions, the 5 cases who were in NT did the right thing and quarantined as soon as they got home.

It's a COVID restricted event so no chance for Victorians to attend, only 1000 allowed in.

Those 1000 will have to sing "They Will Never Tear Up The Tarps".

port get 6 hours less

Correct daisycutter. Not sure why some are complaining as basically we have a half day extra rest than Port. No injuries for us tomorrow please.

The AFL and Channel 7 want Thursday night games (apparently some fans do too, personally I don't know why).

Once you require a Thursday night game there's no other reasonable option (keeping the two teams' breaks even) other than us and Hawthorn v Fremantle.

Essendon are also the media darlings right now, with the perception they'll kick a lot of goals, plus Adelaide are going well enough that I imagine plenty of fans in SA will be watching.

As long as it's the last time for this season we can live with it. They should be fit enough, but of course injuries now become really problematic.

Hopefully our round 18 and 19 fixtures offer an 8 day break

I feel the same as some others here. Druggies and crows on the friday night is ridiculous. Wonder if the druggies play the blues again coz those 2 media darlings will get the best time slot.

I also don’t get why anyone likes or wants Thursday night footy. It’s a massive inconvenience for literally anyone who adults. Just the worst.

Wait until they lose by 15 goals tonight!

I wouldn't mind seeing that at all, but Geelong were rubbish last week against the Lions and if they dish up the same again tonight, it could well be a 15 goal Bombers win tonight too.

A win win situation an alot of ways really.

Why can't they play Ess/Adel on FNF? I know they want a TNF game but FNF is still the prime timeslot for the week that should be showcasing the best game.

Any idea what time the game will start?
Assume 7:50 Melbourne time with 30 minute time difference?

Edit: club just confirmed it. 7:40 start time.

What? There goes my trip to Adelaide! Maybe.

For the life of me i wasn't been able to find any info about crowds at the footy in Adelaide (as i was planning on going). Not on the SA gov website or on multiple news sites

Eventually checked the Adelaide oval website. The crows lions game this weekend is capped at 25k.

No changes to restrictions today, so who knows how many will be able to go next Thursday.

so was I Binnny

Gold coast next for me

$$$$ TV

Let’s hope those of us in Adelaide can get a ticket, my #positivelingers shirt is primed and ready to go for it’s first live outing.

I love Thursday night footy, mainly because it means the Front Bar is on a day earlier.

But the ratings have slid for Friday nights with some dud games and the later 7.50 start too late a timeslot.

Thursday night at 7.25 start will please our sponsors. Everyone's home and watching hopefully.

I'm a fan of thurs nights as well. I just like watching the footy so the more nights its on the better as far as i'm concerned.

Thursday night games a re seen as preferable to Friday apparently - bigger viewing audience.

It seems to me that no one likes TNF as a spectacle to go to. People who like it seem to like having footy on the TV on a Thursday night.

That's precisely why TNF exists, and precisely why I hate it.

If Friday night ratings/crowds are down, maybe stop with the 7.50pm starting time and bring it forward to 7.20pm.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
