Crap. Lions clearly getting the rub of the green

That tackle on Koz as he was running into the forward line with a minute to go. The ball was way in front of him. So bloody obvious and no free. So much scragging of our players. no HTB calls at all against the Lions that I can recall.

Yes we don't deserve to be in front but the umpiring is eye watering.

Forget the umpires. Weideman 1 Hunt 2 Melksham 2 ANB 3  Pickett 3. All those holding the balls and throws were there. Have to lift dramatically.

Out-muscled at the contest. They are throwing us away. When we are infront they can push us. So much from having an advantage playing in front.

A few passengers, this really hurts us when the game is so hard.

Our discipline and structure is suffering.

Need to get more control and our forwards have to give good leads that are easy to hit up.

Get the ball Dees.

If you're having a crack at the forward line you don't get it.

We're scoring from 50% of our inside 50s, which is a better conversion rate than the Lions.

This is on the midfield.

We're -11 in CPs, -8 in clearances, -3 in tackles (despite being -43 in disposals), and -14 inside 50s.

No side in the comp will compete with Brisbane if the ball is spending the majority of time in Brisbane's forward half.

Absolute disgrace. I'm off Weideman. He's [censored] useless.

Should never play another game for MFC again. Find another club son

Die Hard Dees fan here but, we are getting so lucky with some of the umpire decisions made. Need to close Cameron down, this is getting ugly

Oliver on Neal at centre bounces is a huge failure. Move Harmes onto Neal FFS.

Put Clarry forward. harmes is playing ok. put him on Neal

Really not too worried about the umpring at all aside from a bit of holding. Many of the lion's free kicks have been for holding the ball. Their tackling has been excellent, while we've been fumbly and not choosing the first option. If we're gonna win this we need more from the midfield, Oliver and Trac can do the damage.

We just have too many ordinary footballers. No way we are winning a flag this year. Typical Melbourne, pump up your tyres, then deflate you when the crunch comes. So disappointing.

Ok bye. Enjoy your weekends.

Seriously some ‘supporter’

Running out of patience with Melksham and Hunt. Both look really poor

The thing about the umpiring is that we're getting some really iffy high contact ones but all the marking contests and HTB calls are going their way.

Bailey was caught stone cold and it was play on, Salem gets a 50/50% one and it's called.

We need Tmac to not crowd the square

There is a real hunger in the Lions - similar to the crows like the week before and we are just lethargic.

I’d be really surprised if we win this - very hard to switch on and reset half way through the game. Can see it blowing out to an 8+ goal loss. Hope I’m wrong.

Our clearance numbers are become a really big problem now, against a team that has a three pronged attack (meaning Lever has to stay accountable) it gives them such a good look in goal.

Sounds as though we’re lucky to only be 20 points down, I haven’t been able to watch (or even listen) to much it because my signal here is pure $**t. Might be a good thing.

Over to you Yze and Goody, gotta find a way out of this hole. If there within 2-3 goals at 3 quarter time we can give it a red hot crack at the end.

We’re not even close to them sadly. They have the best forward line in the league, so playing one on one and making each of our back 6 accountable gives them the advantage, particularly cos they’re also winning the clearances with good possession, thus getting good service, and from the halfback line, where they’re also winning. Hard to imagine this not getting ugly, unless we somehow start taking control at the stoppages, moving quickly into 50 and accurately. Can’t see it, frankly. They’re by some margin the best team we’ve played this year, and by that assessment, best team in the AFL as of now. Still, footy’s a funny game.

4 to 10 (Brisbane’s way) centre clearances and 14 to 22 (Brisbane’s way) clearances.

That’s the issue right there.

Wiedermans positioning is terrible. You just know Brown would be better in the air tonight.

It's awful. Brisbane can do no wrong according to Hodge and the rest are following his lead

Can't blame the defense either the ball is just coming in again and again. All on the midfield so far.

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
