I like it. Added some speed and tackling pressure to balance out the additional tall. Melks can't really have any complaints. He's been serviceable but nothing more.

I like it a lot.  Chandler gets his chance as a small pressure forward.  Needed IMO with the inclusion of Weid in our forward half.

It has been a standard that when picked in the ones you get 3-4 weeks in. Melk couldnt hold his spot but had 4 chances. Weid has now a few chances to show he can hold his spot. But the axe is kept sharp after 4 weeks.

Melk dropped....and some people were saying....?

No more favours, team picked on form.  That’s what the best teams do. Love it!

How's Bowey (inj ?) and Sparrow emergencies?

That's the problem with the reserves playing a day before. Baker obviously held over as emergency and guessing Melksham to be the sub. Could be vice versa though. Probably would've been smart to have Sparrow play half a game so he isn't completely cooked if called upon. Club must be confident they only need one emergency for a late change if required which indicates the selected 22 are healthy and ready to go.

I suspect tomorrow we will see Bowey replaced on the emergency list by another player at Casey, all formalities as they won't play save for some unforeseen circumstance.

Good to see Melksham held accountable for some average efforts.

feel more confident about our mix up forward now

Melksham out and Chandler in is a good move. About bloody time.

I thought Melksham had one more chance as we were winning but no good pick on form which is always a good thing hope Chandler and Weid take it with both hands.

Chandler needed for that particular reason - plus his upside is extended to being a tuff nut with attitude and poise.

What do we see as a Weid pass mark? 2 goals, some assists and tackles?

No, close but not spot on. The pass mark will be:

  • tackles
  • lotsa assists
  • two goals minimum
  • taking defenders out of the hot zone on fruitless picnics to the advantage of his teammates before goal.

I hope the kid can get a few weeks to settle. But we will see when Viney has to fit back in and what they want to do with the Weed.

Melksham was down and like Fritsch - if he can’t find the footy and affect the game - he has to impact defensively and he hasn’t been. I don’t have this hatred toward him tho that some supporters hold.

I just want to see Weid hitting the ball at full steam with a couple of huge pack-crunching contests.

He has the ability and has the form. Now I just hope he strings together a half a season that leads us deep into September

Gee wiz if all three talls find form and Fritsch keeps going, it suddenly looks like an incredibly potent forward line.

Got a feeling with all the focus on the talls Kozzie might be the one to kick a bag this week
