Maj for team balance.

Max to cover LJ's forward role and inside 50 rucking duties.

Means no need for TMac to share ruck duties with Weid, allowing him to play his usual damaging role.

No risk of either of those two (Weid or TMac) getting injured rucking either.

Gives Max a slight break vs mostly rucking also.  Brutal position to play every week...it's a bloody long season.  Keep the big boy a bit fresh!  Maj in for the chop out for two weeks only.  Simples.

Weideman.
No brainer.

Happy for TMac to play with a bit more freedom around the ground in the Jackson role and then Weideman and Brown to play the key forward roles they trained for in pre-season.

we're a team that's struggling to win clearance, but can kick a winning score.

Majak for me. we need a ruckman who can play forward, not a forward who can play ruck.

priority has to be the midfield and clearance.

Daw is a comfortably better ruckman than Weideman. and given we're losing a player who's most significant impact has been in the ruck, i think that should definitely be a big consideration.

I like the idea of Majak playing at some stage of the year, especially if he keeps his seconds form up.

Now is not that time. Weed has been tearing it up at Casey in the position that is now vacant (albeit temporarily). Overlook him now and you could do damage to the morale of the club (and lose him to Collingwood at the end of the year).

This has been discussed at length in the tread reporting the injury.  Please merge.

There is a widespread assumption that, if Weid were to leave, he would automatically go to Collingwood.

I understand the family connection but we don't know if he wants to go there or if indeed Collingwood are interested in recruiting him.  Furthermore, they have very little to offer in return.  Weideman for Daicos anybody?  :D

At least we know that Weid will be pumped up to perform. I expect 20 possessions, 4 goals, 6 tackles and 3 contested marks inside 50 from him.

Jackson spends most of his time forward.

This is a week for Gawn to step up, @Rusty Nails, not have a rest.

I really don’t understand this constant desire for Gawn to be made a second ruck to someone lesser.

It’s his effing job.

How's Austin Bradtke affectionately known as Other, tracking these days?

I have no idea how he's still on the list tbh.

Is a mile off AFL. A project player who just doesn't like physical contact to put it simply.

Do you know what laconic means?

I am putting it down in it's rough quote of lazy. However you want to pedantic it is about lack of speech.

And if he doesn't, its out with the roundup.

It doesn't really matter what we think. As @Yokozuna said, it'll be Jackson for Weideman.

As for Daw as a solution, didn't someone at the club say Daw still has to build match fitness? I wouldn't want him rucking.

It's much better to try and get Weideman into the side and see how it works, and then worry about where Jackson fits when he's fit again. I think Jackson might as a genuine mid if Weideman, Brown, McDonald and Fritsch work. Jackson had that mammoth aerobic game against GWS (?) earlier this year where he covered more kms than practically anyone on the ground. He has the tank to play permanent midfield and it also gives us a look at that dynamic.

With Weid in you have the same amount of talls we have had for the last few weeks.

I would imagine one of Weid, BB, Tom Mac and Gawn will be on the bench at any one time during the game, thereby having a balance of key forwards and a ruckman on the ground.

That way we are not top heavy up forward and one big guy is freshening for a few minutes.
