Bayley Fritsch cleared of striking

Featured Replies

Hardly ever ends in a good result with heads connecting with elbows.

Had no time to avoid so the benefit of doubt might look after him.

Unfortunately yes he is in strife

If they use the Hawkins criteria he will be safe: if the MFC one then gone.

No, however if that caused concussion he would be.

it didn't. he'll play next week. fine at most.

I don't think so. Fine at most.

He was defending off a tackle, the north bloke came in low.

I'm curious what Zieball did to Fritsch in the first off the ball. Does anyone know what happened there?

Yeah we never saw a replay of what happened.

The fact there was no concussion helps. Fine at best I hope

He must play no concussion that's what saves him.

I think he’ll get 1-2 weeks, as much as I hope he gets a fine. Elbows to heads aren’t looked highly upon.

If it was the oppo doing it to us we’d be screaming for a suspension.

It did happen to us with May and Hawkins and most of us realised that accidents happen.

Fritsch had half a step to avoid being crunched and out an elbow out to protect himself. Not his fault the North player ran in to it.

Was it intentional?

that will be the crux between a fine or Suspension

I dunno, it didn’t look good. The guy didn’t come back on did he?
I mean Hawkins smashed May’s face and it was accidental. They may say it’s accidental but the elbow was a little raised and he does play for Melbourne.
Good record so I would say he misses a week.

passed concussion text and played 2nd half.......thankfully

Honestly got no idea, wasn't necessary but didnt believe it was intentional at the time of seeing it. Would have to see it back. Tackle was low, anyone's guess what happens.

If Fritta gets a week or two then the afl is corrupt. There was nothing deliberate in it and no concussion.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
