Great to have Trac on board for the ride

Says to me there is some real belief amongst this group of young guns

Hope they can achieve great things together - will be special for everyone

Not sure why anyone is worried about the money. We’ve signed all the pillars, unless we get done for cap breach, don’t worry about it.

Jetta, Jones, Melksham, Hibbo, Tomald all on the way out. Kids like Kozzie and Jackson aren’t signing money deals until they’re at least 23.

It’s an odd realisation I know, but we seem to know what we’re doing

Tom would be the only one on big coin in that group though.

Not that I'm worried. I actually think these early contracts might position us well for a crack at a free agent.

Hoping we were able to front load.

Now being reported that the deal is worth well over $1mil per year as was reported by @goodwindees. Where did the narrative that he wanted to leave some $$$ for his team mates come from, because earning that much cash is not going to help retain your LG, Kozzies, Rivers and other emerging stars in a few years time.

Unless there is some clever front/backloading being done here, i cant see how this was a team focused decision.

Dont get me wrong, i am wrapped he has signed for 7 and he is well worth what he is getting paid - just questioning the narrative.

Front loading a contract can sort that out.
Tracc is a generational player. He deserves Top Dollar ?

He is like RDB in the 1950’s

I honestly cannot believe what is happening this year.

If Trac had any doubts about our list, potential for success, coaching, facilities etc he would have only signed for 2 years. He is not signing just because we are 7-0.

It gives me good confidence we can win a flag in the next 5 years. Trac is such a competitor, no way he stays somewhere if he doesn't seriously believe they can be successful

I believe some of us (supporters) will have to be managed for Saturday night. Way too much excitement for this early in the week.

Well done MFC and Trac!

Tracc says in his interview on the MFC site that he has matured as a player and as a person.  So very true!  Not only a great player for us, but a great ambassador.

True, and he's the kind of player that other footballers want to play with - teammates will re-sign for less or come from other clubs to play with him. Let's put in in perspective - he could go down as one of our greatest ever.

Absolutely his playing style determination and talent are just like the great RDB

Trac loves NBA and you see big name players moving all the time, so part of me was somewhat worried about his long term signature - but seeing him happy to be a 'one club player' fills me with joy. Onwards and Upwards Trac.

And on top of all that...

He’s got that killer smile.
❤️?

'I could have called up Magic and Larry Bird and said "hey, let's get together and play on one team".

'In all honesty, i was trying to beat those guys'

And then you have that clown Lebron jumping from super team to super team.

He isn't fit to tie MJ's bootlaces.

Is it possible that he waited a couple of weeks so it didn't crowd Jones' 300th celebrations?  Because that would be pure class.

Just to add a little clarity.  I believe the 7 year deal does not include 2022 which he was already contracted for.

They renegotiated next year and added 7 years on, so it is effectively a new 8 year deal starting 2022.

takes him to the end of 2029 where he will be 33 and in the last two years theres a player/coach option

Club site states it runs to end 2029 season

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
