Mids trying to play Hollywood football. What a surprise

ANB and Rivers both clear worst on ground for us. Everything they do turns to Hawthorn goals and opportunities.

We're going to have to earn this one today, as our forwardline looks poor and our defence is shaky with Petty and Rivers down there not doing great.

Nibbler off his game. He won;t hold his spot next week at this rate

Shocker thus far.

Oliver too cute handballs.

Defence at sea. Not competing at ground level. Need to re-group at quarter time.

Still early folks... we havent lost yet

The Max Gawn miss set the tone. ****ful performance.

No May no backline. No Fritsch no forwardline.
Prove me wrong Melbourne. Please.

When we get first hands on the ball how about hanging on to it!

Petty had to punch that instead of trying to grab it.

Im glad Hibberds pkaying well. Petty does not instill confidence.

Fix the shambles down back boys

Pressure up the field the real issue

I hope it’s not a big mistake dropping Jetta. He could have snuffed two of those hawk cheapies.

Hibbo playing well but otherwise it is worrying signs early in defence. Even Tommo is looking very uncertain.

Gonna need to find another gear or two to get it done today.

We are clearly struggling forward of the Centre and our backline needs to settle.
If we don’t start to dominate the clearances we are done for.

Our fringe players starting to look fringe again. Rivers having a mare. Brown not the answer up forward. Jordan off the pace (2nd week running?) Jones largely invisible.

Incredible how two key players out impacts how the whole team looks.

Concerning.

we need to slow down and steady

Them getting on top in the first should be a good wake up call

Pig playing well. Let the boys know how the VFL lads went and there is plenty of competition

Bring on a fired up second quarter

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash.
