how can you have all midfielders on the bench and both wings?

don't defenders get rotated?

This team is a joke if picked on actual positions. There are like 19 midfielders and only one actual defender in May. It’s a bit of a joke.

Gees that was a big night. Hope the month of September pans out the same.

I actually just counted it out Jaded. I reckon they've put 10 out and out midfielders into the side. 10!!

Bloody hell well done Maxy!!

A leader and a star.
It has been a serious night.

Clean sweep tonight, lets keep it coming in September Mighty Dees.

Congratulations to Captain Max, Trac, Clarry, Rick and Maysie on All Australian selection.

Big Congratulations to Action 'Dogga' Jackson on the Rising Star Award also.

Fan [censored] tastic.

I’m just so proud of the boys but more so  of being a supporter who’s stuck it out with them.
We’ve arrived, but the summit is ahead. @Pollyanna

Yep just Brownlow, Norm Smith and Flag now. Easy done.

What a great night of individual awards for our beloved Dees …..  but I’m sure they all know full well, that there are bigger fish to fry.

I'm hoping after the year the boys have had the whole side chisels in their names as true legends of the Melbourne football club forever more.

And on a different tangent.
5 all Australians and finished the season minor premiers.
After all these years it's surreal stuff.
Hope the next few weeks blows our freakin minds.

Max as Captain, everyone grow a beard for the finals, I'm not shaving anyway!!!

The Fox Footy promo 'History is in Front' for the QF game is the best ever, anyone know how to capture it for you tube?

Lets hope he goes from all Australian captain to premiership captain.

But I did laugh when he said that comment about dreaming of becoming a premiership player before becoming a dad.

But well done on how hard he has worked over the years. A shame Jim isn't here to see the great work he did with him that work rubbed off on him and the person he is now.

It’s absolutely not about individual awards, but recognition of individual players who have worked so hard all year to help make their team better is always nice. I’m especially proud of May. He’s 29 and he’s really brought himself into this position the last two year by sheer hard work. Well done!

I recall in 2000 when Daniher and everyone went gaga when Woey won the brownlow. I think it upset us that week and we were happy to be participating in a GF.

We aren't there yet but I sense these boys are a lot more grounded and will park their exceptional awards and re-focus very quickly on the work to be done.

Go Dees

Incredible night really, all well deserved awards, and hopefully the precursor of bigger things to come.

I'm in tears watching this. The kids had to ask me what was wrong. Will we win any more?

Meanwhile Petracca says "I'm proud to be one of five Melbourne players ... " and the commentators do an eye-roll.

I guess we don't win any more?

Yeah somehow I think they’ll appreciate this more when the season/career is done. Right now they’ll be focused on Sat night.

Max Gawn has an AA guernsey for ~every 30 games he’s played. The best ratio in history.

unbelievable

We literally won everything, as Daisycutter said our salary capped is cooked.

The words Oliver said about Goody, that boy ain't going nowhere.

Let's hope we clean sweep the Charlie, Norm Smith and Premiership too.

Why don’t all the awards happen at the end of the year?

so hard for players to enjoy them when nothing has been achieved. A lot of nervous grins...

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
